Cool. How long do you wait before removing the stencils?

Thanks Brad,

Using this system ( base coat ) it was dry as quick as 15mins after painting ( touch ) and the masks could be removed safely.

How ever you can't wipe any of those two colours with any solvents such as prepsol or it will simply melt the colours and irreversably damage it so you would have to start from scratch.

If you did the same process in acrylic its fine for this also and a little more forgiving if mistakes are made or bleed through happens

@gpaking1975 - I take it this is the car currently for sale? Nice job on the rebuild.

We've started our rebuild - we were hoping to do the Repco Reliability Retrial (last month) but other events got in the way so we put of some of the build process. It is still progressing though with the engine almost finished.

Old post but interesting that no-one even mentioned what the Gpack really is. It is the LH version of a HQ SS, exact same marketing at the exact same time. It is the base spec sedan (S and Belmont) optioned with the second biggest engine optional in the model with a 4spd manual, performance rear axle, bucket seats, console shift, sports dash and sports wheels/trims in 3 only unique colour and “black”out treatments. Plus the single trim colour available. If there was a performance exhaust optional on 6cyl LH it probably would have got that too. G pack (XV1) was put into the SVO listing prior to or at the same time as HQ SS (XV2).
I know Dr Terry didn’t miss the comparison though, he talks about it in his book!

The best way to pick one is by the GV4 rear axle. An LH S 3.3 4spd with 3.36 rear axle would be virtually non existant outside Gpack just like a HQ Belmont sedan with 253, M20 with 3.36 would be virtually zero outside of SS (but these have actual unique colour and trim so that makes them a snack to identify, whereas Gpack used production colours but with unique graphics).

I also forgot about the sports steering wheel on both (not available outside GTS and SL/R afaik), plus the SS getting the GTS’s signature identifier (the guards) whereas the Gpack got the SL/R’s bobtail.

Just realised the Gpack didn’t get the bobtail. I reckon there must have been a dealer near me fitting them new as I remember a lot of them in the 70’s looking dead stock but with the bobtail.

Byron, Gpak and Plus 4 both got the rear spoiler and SL/R wheel trims. Plus 4 wheel trims were body colour coded.

Torana Tough must be incorrect. Just watched the Gpak ad, no rear spoiler on that Gpak so I suppose it was a dealer fitted accessory.

I always thought they had the bobtail too as I had seen plenty with it when they were new or near new, but I can't find mention of it in literature including the Press Release, sales brochure or POA documents for Gpack, and it isn't there in the Plus4 Press release either.

You are correct as usual. I had a look at the Plus 4 list of std inclusions and the rear spoiler isn't listed.

For whatever reason Norm has stated in Torana Tough for Gpak and Plus 4 that the rear face of the spoiler is black.

^^funnily enough a Plus4 is one of the few sets of ID plates I need to collect to finish my full set for an under glass “sports Holden” display. Still missing Brabham, Plus4, LJ GTR or XU1, HJ coupe and HZ Sandman. I do have LJ S coupe and a HZ L31 M21 Kingswood Van filling gaps but the other 3 are proving very hard to obtain. HJ coupe will be impossible I think.

Thanks for putting that up Rob.  Including the clock would have been a big dollar addition at nearly 50 bucks in April 1975.

Here is the Gpack press release. You can see GMH using the corrected gross hp here that they used internally from the start of HJ production. It doesn't appear much in sales literature from memory but in stuff like this it does.

G'day all,

I'm trying to figure out what the interior trim number for the Gpak is.
Some posts I've found indicate that 18W is the code, others indicate 19V is the code.

Can anybody verify what the correct code actually is?

Thanks

It is an S so be will be black trim which is 19. It tells you in that document I posted above it is black. 18 is Slate Black.

All of the G-Pak Toranas that I have recorded have 18W interior trim code on their ID plate.

Dr Terry

I thought XV1 was a fixed option package like XV2. XV1 was only 3 colours too?
Having said that, just found a 1905 coloured 2/75 set of tags off one in my collection and it is Slate Black 18V. So they must have upgraded the trim from 19V black to 18V Slate Black on XV1. It doesn’t actually say that in any literature I have, like the POA documents for HX Sandman tell you part of the package was Kingswood trim, so it got 18V rather than the Holden’s 18V. LH POA doesn’t say that, nor does the Press Release.
My guess is 18W is the trim on the second run of Gpack in late 1975.
