Here on the sunny coast there is a fairly large RICER brigade, whilst most of their cars are'nt my cup of tea :eg, Hyundai exel, 4" exhaust tip, led's all over & a rear wing skippy could'nt jump over :tease: However there is little doubt they love their cars as much as we do! :D

Guys, in speech and the written word it is not the intent of what you say that is important, but how it is perceived by those you are directly speaking to and those who indirectly hear what you have to say. (Im sure most of you will be familiar with how the law works in workplace bullying situations)
I think there are many who would be offended by the use of the term RICER, especially when it is a term of derision(certainly on this forum) with obvious links to the Asian way of life. JBird through his association with motoring may not be sensitive to this, however, do appreciate that it may not only be asian people who are put off by this term, but there are also non asian people who are not impressed by others using terms with racial connotations in order to put things down or denigrate them.

Love it, too many goodie goodies and polically correct people today who don't won't to offend the immagrant, Well, Harden the F$#k up, this is Australia.

I'm not racist, I just think we are all getting a little too soft and letting the country we love be run by the soft cocks of this world. Aussie chicks wear those bikinis!

I'm sick of RICE and all references to it. The term is so commonly used these days that anything can be rice. To me now it is just shit car, and that is over the top mods that don't actually make the car perform any better, these mods are VERY flamboyant and 'look at me' behaviour. In the end beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so those who put big wings/kits on their cars might just like it for the looks factor... Fine they can to what they want, to me I just will think of them as superficial wankers who don't really have a deeper mechanical understanding of a car.
A good point was made above with factory kits been alrite, I agree to a certain extent I guess. Not so sure about the millions of stocko V6 commodes with a kit and HSV badges though. I'd prefer a nice clean stocko, lowered, nice rims that suit... thats if it was all about looks... subtle can usually look better, it certainly lasts better

If you get offended by the term ricer, you probably are one.

Those utes you see with 100 000 000 000 000 candle power spoties (x 6) arent Rice.

They're just Ringer utes. Guys that wanna think that they are from the country.

Funniest thing I've ever seen was "ROUTE 69 UTE" and longhorns etc etc.

On a Sedan.

just thought ild add my 2 cents worth in haha,as a former riceburner driver(1981 mazda rx7,13b turbo,5 speed,11.4 timeslip)i have respect for most cars that do what they are meant to do,in other words,if u have a jap car with the stickers and wings, but it goes like a bat outta hell, its cool.I used to cop heaps of flak from the v8 boys, but always had the last laugh when my old girl hit full boost and started wheelspinning at 160 kph.agreed front drivers with shopping trolley wing and stickers, with a 1600 twin cam are shit(lump v6 commo hsv clones here too)but each to their own.even fords deserve respect if a nice one.got a 1972 ford galaxie with a 400 big block next to my torana, not fast, but compfortable and good for lugging the kids, groceries and anything u want to carry in style and comfort while pimpin that gangsta shit lmfao.moral of the story is if someone puts a lot of effort, blood sweat and tears into his/her ride, then the ride deserves respect, and if it is only a few stickers, cannon muffler and huge wing,it is definitly rice, whether it is jap, yank, pom or aussie.

LOL Tassie DW!

Chevy and a lot of the other "V8" guys know that but don't want to acknowledge it. Different strokes for different blokes.

so can we call a stock aussie car with a body kit and loud exhaust and no engine mods a "MEATPIE" or "meat and 3 veg" i.e a stock v6 dunnydore with a ss kit.

I was thinking the exact same thing, just you beat me to it :tease:

I think a ricer is something thats had all the bodywork done to a car thats not worth doing it to in the first place, i.e FWD's.
Although personally I have nothing against the jap cars with real potential, ie, 200sx, skyline GTR's(I just like the GTR bit  ) etc....
