The fella who missed out on getting the HK 327 Monaro bought the E38 Charger.
There is a HK 327 Monaro (Bathurst) just 15 minutes from my place.
It's in a shed covered in 13 years of dust and birdshit. Alongside it is a Zodiac Blue LJ XU-1 virtually in the same condition as the Monaro.
I asked the owner does it have a bigger fuel tank as per the XU-1s and he said yes.
He claims it is a Bathurst car. As for me I'm only repeating what he said.
And "NO" he doesn't want to sell either of them nor the other 307 Monaro in the farm shed.
Regards ............. Barry

A bit of history on the car in question
that sold for $220.000.
It was bought new from madills in gympie buy Mr Darlingtion in 1968 And for the last 38 years its called gympie home .
Then as the sole owner he racked up only 79,334 miles. It was his daily driver for 9 years.
Then in late 1970 he parked it in the shed. Some of these miles were racked up wile it was on blocks in his shed bettwen 1977 and 1985,
In late 1985 he cleaned it up and started on the show circuit he had the paint tuched up and since then it never saw a drop of rain ." the reason i am selling the car" says Mr Darlingtion 'i am in my 60s retirement age and i didnt want to keep it for ever "! Its a nice little nest egg" the car now calls WA home !
cheers !jeff
