Considered plastic bead blasting ?. I believe is is not as harsh as sandblasting ie does not get into every little nook, panel damage etc, where sand is likley to remain. Seems people are starting to avoid sandblasting as an option. Search the forum as I think it has been discussed in some length before.

there is even a new method called Soda blasting.

I am not too sure about it but from what i understand it uses baking soda to remove the paint.

I saw it in a unique cars mag.

^^correct, there is one bloke I know of in WA that does it, that's how I'll get my car done next year. He quoted around $1700 for the complete car inside and out.

Interesting.

Can we find out if this method strips off filler fibreglass and the sealer.
Or to what extent it removes the above.

How does that price compare to sand and plastic

Soda blasting removes nothing but the paint
It won't touch bog or rust
I don't know how many coats of paint it will remove either...... it looks like a very "gentle" process

We get ours done in Sydney (media blasted) for just under $1000, inside and out and underneath and all panels.

I wouldnt use sandblasting as it buckles/distorts panels very easily.

If you are going to blast underneath also, you are going to need a way of rolling the car. DONT leave that up to the blasters.
I had our hatch sandblasted twice, inside outside upside down.
I made a rotisserie which bolted together in the middle. Once the car was on the trailer, the rotisserie simply slid under it. When i got to the blasters i bolted the rotisserie together & bolted the car up. That way the blaster was comfortable & didn't have to move around too much. He could reach all of the car easy.
That means when the primer goes on, it too can get in everywhere.
$1700 to blast a car! Bloody hell! It cost me 2 cartons! Thats with the primer!

Good idea on supplying the rotisserie!

So where abouts in Sydney are there to blast a shell? Looking at the same thing at present.

cheers
Glenn
