I'm using the Genie collectors.

The primaries were cut off flush:

The Genie collectors compared to Motorvator:

And the "cow bell" cos that's the noise it makes when you hit it with a hammer:

I reckon the Genie stuff "merges" better:

Bloody damn know it all young whipper snippers! Dammit! :furious:

Lucky there was plan "B" :)

Story time with Uncle Bob: :blahblahblah:

Late last year, a forum member asked me if I could tune his triple SU's on his pretty silly 202.

I went there, had a go, found all the throttle shafts to be worn and gave up. :Headbang2:

I pointed out to him that 1.50's were too small anyway and he should look for some 1.75's.

So............Some weeks later he hands me a set of 1.75 CD's that he bought off another forum member, I cleaned them up (they were painted red) fabbed up a couple of missing parts (that I couldn't buy anywhere) and put kits through them.

He fitted them, I tuned them, job done! :D

Anyway, in the mean time, his brother in law is selling a set of XU-1 headers on e-bay and a third forum member contacts him and asks wether he would swap the headers for a set of 1.75 SU's. Swap takes place, forum member 1 buys them off his brother in law and gives them to me for services rendered. :spoton:

Posted Image

Forum member 3 tells forum member 1's brother in law that they are "a bit ordinary" so fair swap? :dontknow:

4 things I found to be "ordinary" were:
1 needle loose in a piston.
1 aircleaner fitted upside down, this blocks the piston and fuel bowl vents.
1 throttle lever loose on the shaft (tuning nightmare)
And bowls full of sh1t.

Posted Image

Stripped, cleaned, kitted and these are now ready to fit.

Posted Image

But.................the manifold is 9 port and I have a 12 port head?

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Also, longer manifold studs had to be made because of the 12mm adapters. The stuff in the yellow bottle makes work easy.

Posted Image

This pick shows the fit up with the original Genies, I had chopped out the header plates and re-timed No. 6 primary but wasn't happy with them so that is why it has dragged on.

Posted Image

A second up the back straight, a second and a half down the front straight, a few tenths through the corners and I'll be right up forum member No.4's clacker! :3gears:

I read up a lot about exhausts, extractors, mufflers etc.
Basically got confused. :blink2:

Then a mate sent me this:

"Back pressure is bad and if you can get the exhaust to exit in a low pressure area on the vehicle all the better.

For no or very little power loss the exhaust must flow 2.2 cfm per horsepower (0.2 psi back pressure, 5 to 6 inches of water)

To achieve open pipe power with a silenced system you require an expansion chamber at the end of the collector. This expansion chamber must have a volume of 8 to 15 times the size of one cylinder and have an abrupt change in cross section. This then feeds into the rest of the system and silencer/s and as long as it flows 2.2cfm per hp no power loss will result.

The expansion chamber basically replicates an open pipe."

Sounds like motor bike stuff? Expansion chamber? :dontknow:

Me being a bit old school, it made a bit of sense, as well as "The more exhaust you get rid of, the more fresh charge can enter"....................something from trade school days.

So I made this:
