No mate, I'm not that old. I missed out on the Golden Years, but I do the officer personally who shared this photo with me.

Apparently this is an ex cop car.
Still has light mounts, fin mounts, radio holes etc. Mods to fuel tank too.
- Leakey
The police ran GTs for sure.

Good pickup Steve. It was just a screenshot that was sent to me and I don't Facebook so I don't know anything about it. What do you think the four round things on the roofrack are? Sirens? Spotlights?

They often had the gold/yellow and black cloth insert seats as well. The 4 roof bar thingos are sirens.
Went to the auctions in Sydney many times to buy one second hand. But always found them a bit rough.
Dont ever recall the cops having XB GT 2 doors. .I think in the XB era they still had the light blue 4 doors..like GTs but no badges etc.

There sirens ... I actually had one of those blue light lenses from the Star Hotel riot .. I had it for years, and threw it away about 20 years ago ... spewing now..
The Highway Patrol Cars we had in Newy were GT 351 Hardtops... We also had 265 and 340 I think they were.. Chargers.
I had a few coppers come to my place over 20 years ago.. (issues over wife and her family.. but that's a whole other story.. ) Anyway, I was washing my Torana at the time they all pulled up.. some when straight inside with my Inlaws, and some stayed outside with me.. One in particular was an older Sargent. He said to me, Nice car, I had one of these as a Highway Patrol Car in Sydney, but it was GTR. he said it had the triples and lumpy cam.. He went on to say how much he loved it, and how fast it was. He told me it was nothing to take of from a standing start, and smoke the tyres all the way through 1st and 2nd... Then he gave me some advice on married life, lol ... he was a damn nice bloke..
Oh, and me and the misses went on to have two kids after that.... but we did end up going our separate ways... And her family are still dicks ..

I was guessing sirens, but I thought having 4 of them was a bit of overkill.

.. Finally found a Torana .....
Interesting this Photo, as I can see a wire going from driving light to bracket on front valance, there is two brackets on this GTR Police car, my Pink GTR has the same brackets as well, I thought that is what they were for. Great Pic. photo (12).JPG 119.16K 3 downloads

They had a chrome finish with no plastic at all on them or used to install them
These plastic clips on valance panel are a later addition to your car by another owner
The photo of the NSW Police green GTR in post 86 is of very poor quality if they are wires it's a very poor installation of driving lights leaving the wires vulnerable like that, I believe it's not wiring but mark on the photo as I have seen a pair of the driving lights that was used on Torana's back in the day with wires going through grille. Hope this information is useful.

These are the spotties that I remember them using in country WA. They were a Hella body with a 100w General Electric aircraft landing light mounted in them. The wire came through the back of the body down towards the bottom.
The same as the photo below, but with a chrome body instead of black.

The Hella lights used by NSW police had extra bolt going across at the bottom for up down movement, full chrome body and HELLA on the glass.
Not much difference between WA and NSW police in driving lights back in the day.

Ummmm they did use the Square lights as well Boys, been told by some Ex NSW Police guys, Undercover Detective ( Observation Unit) guys in 21st Division had cars that looked different to the Normal Police cars to blend in, there Under cover Observation Unit Drug Detectives in 21st Division even had a Black LH SLR5000 with no 5000 Decals on it.

I agree with you, that NSW Police used square spot lights on the Chargers you can find photos on the net.
Thanks for the info on the black SLR 5000 , I didn't know of this car that was on loan to the drug unit with no decals, you could add a set of steel hub caps on it ,then looks like any standard 4 door LH Torana with a back spoiler this would blend in.
The under cover observation unit do with a GTR Torana how could you blend in with this car with the GTR badges, flutted guards and bold colour scheme even with spot lights on front, it would stand out like a sore thumb (remembering GTR's were doing pursuit duties at the same time).
I think the unit would have just requested the purchase of a new LJ standard two or four door with a 202 motor and 4 speed with plain colour scheme this would suit the under cover unit more as there policy was to blend in.
GTR's were purchased for pursuit duties.
The NSW Goverment never purchased second hand vehicles for the NSW Police as they could got new car warranty.
In my research I found two GTR,s while in police service one with motor rebuilt and the other a gear box replaced all under warranty.
The NSW Goverment SOLD these cars at auction and still made a profit on them at the end.
