I have been told the 161 motor I have MAY be a replacement LC GTR motor.
Can anyone confirm this or let me know how I might verify this?
The engine number is -
161 N 2922 S

So does that make it just your garden variety 161? or could it be considered a valid factory replacement for the original 2600?

I guess the bottom line is, will it detract from my restoration? Could I lose points if I enter shows?

It's interesting the prefix is 161N. For example a replacement JL/QL engine is NL. The replacement for a JP engine is NP.
The LC torana was the only model to use the 2600 prefix for it's engines (2600L,2600H,2600S) the HK,T,G used the 161 prefix. I'll look it up in the K,T,G workshop manual for the engine codes. It's possible the "S" at the end determines the model the engine is used on, send a PM to Dr Terry he might be able to shed some light on it

As best I can make out, the head number is 7420189, but with all the paint etc you could easily substitute the 0s and 8s.

the head number for a lc gtr should be 2807144. My 2600s has a different number to the book, but is the orig head.
