It sounds like we are on the same page. I have never had any doubts about Boyded being 865. It really does become problematic when people (in good faith) cite current codes.

hi bazza...i think that the list needs to be pruned..that is if say J.A. Gilbert of waitara dealer number 025 and Suttons of waitara dealer 574 should be on the one line..

that way we compact the list and people can see that the dealership changed hands at some stage and is still on the same site..thats just one example there are others that can be treated this way as well..what ya think????

Hi All.

I have an issue with 865 listed as "Metro Motors" ( I have just read back and noticed Bazza and Grumpy bringing up the same point)
An extract from page 8 of this thread below

According to the GMH Vin list, my LC GTR went to dealer 865.
The original owner protection plan, states it was bought from

A.C.T Motors PTY LTD
3 Lonsdale St. Braddon A.C.T

Also traded as LES EATON Holden from I think about late 70/72 onwards.
Most likely this name would have been associated with 865 when the VIN list was put together?

This car is listed on the VIN disk and was sold in A.C.T. The car was built late 70s and sold in December.
It was traded back about 18 months later to the same dealer and resold. It still has the LES EATON sticker on the back window.

Importantly the Dealer code 865 also appears to be consistent with other N.S.W / east side dealer codes.

This dealer ceased trading a year or two or three after 72. I cant be sure of the exact time / date.

I am not sure how this all fits in with the Boyded theory? Perhaps this car was meant for Boyded and was redirected??

Any feedback ? ? ?

G'day,

According to the VIN on my LC S it was sold be dealer code 610 and has a stencil saying Hawkesbury Valley Motors Windsor. Its unrestored and I doubt the granny who owned it would have bodged it up!

Forgot to mention it still has its original rego plates, with Hawkesbury Valley Motors surounds.

I notice that when "999 D" or "000 D" is used there is no production date entered. I believe that, in these cases at least, the 999 or 000 is the default entry for 'no date'. Another thing that I notice is that the majority of "999" 1.2.3.4.5 or X cases, there is a very long gap between theproduction date and sell date. Examples; a car produced on 26/11/69 not sold until 12/70, another producedon 21/11/69 not sold until12/70 and so on.



It's all supposition - but it makes sense to me at least.

Hi all, great site you have here.

Just wondering if anyone can help me with my dealer code ('61 EK Special)

The code seems to have been lightly scratched into the firewall.................152. It'a a NSW car, if that helps.

It has a Savell Bros service sticker on the front door, though I'm not so sure it's a Savell car.

Hello Coop SAVELL BROS. dealer code is 614 they were located at 412 forrest road Hurstville NSW.
I very much doubt that they would scratch their dealer code in the firewall, what some of the
dealers did was stencilled their business name in paint on the underside of the bonnet. i have
seen MUIRS @ ASHFIELD and W.H.LOBER @ MIRANDA do this. Dealer code 152 appears to be
an Adelaide based code as early adelaide no's run through to 156 before starting again in
the low 630's.Footnote i have also seen company's like lober's stencill the firewall with their
name & phone no for the service also have seen an A9X sedan with MUIRS stencilled under
the bonnet scoop. Hope this helps.
