Have not got 217, it does fall in the 200 to 299 range of dealers codes which "seems to be reserved for GMH internally use codes.
Maybe someone else can expand on this.

have you got any info on dealer 450 as it seems it may not existed

Dealer codes stayed the same or swapped or were re-issued when a dealership changed hands or merged.
Southern motors have been around since 3/4/1929. The name could have had at least 3 owners one being Bob Jane and the Dealer Id could have changed names at least 3 times.

Thanks very much, and as for what they did with it - as a PR car I guess it could have been a media hack - therefore the answer to your question would likely be "flogged it"!
I rather hope it was the PR boss' car he used for his daily duties...

What makes a "GOOD" list ?

I am slowly getting the hang of a good GMH ID list and would suggest it needs the following so as not to be misleading.

ID - obviously
State - dealers / names go across multiple states.
Suburb - same dealers in multiple suburbs
Dealer Name - with the correct spelling
Start Date - start date of the existence of the dealer for above info,
End date - end date of the existence of the dealer for the above info.
address - dealers change locations (within the same street)
Postcode - helps identify ( some dealers label themselves in another suburb not the actual suburb they are in)
Phone number - helps identify location and dealer evolution on a site.

Optional - entity name - business talk for who owns the dealership - can help identify.

Have I missed something ?

What makes a good question on identifying a GMH ID.
Who was ID XXX during the period eg 1/1/1969 to 1/1/1974
(you may get more than 1 answer for almost any given time period
and you may get more than one location
and you may get more than one dealer name .

What makes an even better (precise) question on identifying a GMH ID
Who was dealer XXX in January 1969.

do you agree with the above??

arbitrary lists (and I was guilty of posting up one early in my research) can be a lucky dip for the right information.
most that I have seen are riddled with errors.

Noel Gould had 5 locations:-

Townsville
Frankston Started in 1985
Berwick
Bentleigh
Narre Warren

Possible Noel Gould could have used 385 for Berwick, Bentleigh and Narre Warren

I only have 385 for Narre Warren but nothing for Berwick and Bentleigh.

which does not mean that they arn't 385 or at least one of them isn't also 385.
