642   -  oops until 11/77 Lyn-Don Motors, then maybe 12/77 Coleton Motors, So generally covered Torana.

According to the records this A9X was sold new by dealer 328

 

I didn't have a name associated with dealer 328 on my list so I assume it must have been "Scotty Taylor Holden" of Wodonga VIC.?

 

Just BTW & FYI, this car (apparently still with it's original engine) was for sale on eBay four years ago (March 2016) by Boats and More Shepparton for $135k

Interesting! I would need Date of Manufacture - Date of sale - Date of the Advertisement to sort this out.  Perhaps its old stock, punted around between dealers before being sold.

I believe dealer 328 was Middleton Motors P/L Hanson St Corryong Vic. It may well be that Scotty Taylor Holden was issued that number later.

A & E Taylor became Alan "Scotty" Taylor and overlapped with Middleton. I have GMH documentation confirming 328 Middleton.  If they existed before and after Scotty Taylor it is unlikely Taylor ever got 328.

I was just going through some of my stuff.  I believe 739 is Warrington Motors Dubbo 01/10/71 - 01/10/1989  Cnr Darling & Bultje St. 2830.  Keith Worthington.

I have 739 listed as Tweed Motors (Tweed Heads) but I have no dates against that entry so not sure when that was.

Although I just found a brochure that has Gersbach's Garage Wellington 739.   My radio was was put in by Warrington Motors 10/04/72   It says they are a licenced dealer.

  On the Torana VIN data sheet under the SDLR  it says my car was sold by 547.   (which I guess is the dealer that sold it. )     On a HQ Monaro brochure  which has a price written it says $3856 includes delivery. Plus registration.  on this brochure it has a ink stamp that says Gersbach's Garage PTY LTD Wellington 739.   The same writing in pen is on a Torana booklet called Make Your Torana One-Off-A-Kind with Personalised Accessories.  The booklet was issued February 1972.  In pen it has prices written for Tow Bar $22. Bumper Guards $18. Petrol Locking Cap $6.  Left Hand Exterior Mirror $6.

 

And on my Air Chief Radio booklet it says the date my car was registered 10/04/72.  it says Installed by GMH PTY LTD. or Dealer.  The dealer box is ticked.  Dealers name is Warrington Motors PTY LTD.  Corner Darling & Bultie street Dubbo 2830.  

 

So I am really not sure.  I guess my car was bought at 547,  and maybe delivered to Dubbo, where the radio was fitted.  And just maybe he decided to get the Torana over the HQ 4 door Monaro?.

yes I know. Bazza had no listing for 547.   I bought my car from Dubbo in 1989 .    I thought maybe the dealers names might help.

ordering dealer then selling dealer in case the car was retailed between dealers - not sure when this started to be recorder in GMH records.

Tweed heads 739 1958 to 2000 no sign of changing hands.

Warrington Motors Dubbo 623  1971 to 1989  no sign of changing hands.

Yeah. I'm a long way from understanding.  But the stamp on the Monaro brochure has Gersbach's Garage 739.  The same hand writing is on the Torana Brochure.  I'm just wondering if he went with the Torana over the Monaro.    I don't know what the 739 is.  but it is on the ink pad stamp.  The Air Chief Radio booklet I have states my car was rego'd 10/04/72.  The Radio was Installed the same day at Warrington Motors.   My car is 04/02/72  SDLR 547.    To my thinking David (I have his full name and address) ordered an XU1 and it was delivered to Dubbo?  But I'm having trouble putting my bumper bar on....  so bare with me...
