That's a relatively modern number. Founded 1990

The original Holden Dealer in Stanthorpe was situated in the middle of town. Somewhere around 35 Maryland Street from memory.
As Bazza has advised, Glen Severn Holden didn't exist or at least didn't exist at that location at the Southern end of town before 1990.

I'm getting a bit confused now.
This pic is Glen Severn Holden in Glen Innes, NSW.
The last time I was in Stanthorpe the Holden Dealer had relocated from the centre of town to the southern outskirts.
I believe it was 3 Wallangara Road but I can't do a screen shot from google street view.
The current google images show the site is vacant and up for sale.
The Holden dealer in Stanthorpe may or may not have been associated with Glen Severn Holden in Glen Innes.
I don't recall ever seeing the name Glen Severn Holden on the Stanthorpe Dealer at either location.

Got it.
Central Motors was the Holden Dealership in Stanthorpe.

Picture and story from the Courier Mail in 2018.
A SEVEN-DECADE association between car giant Holden and Central Motors Stanthorpe has come to an end.
The local business is one of 30 dealerships across the country that have not had their dealer agreement extended.
The termination brings to a close a partnership that dates back to the 1940s.
Central Motors Stanthorpe owner-manager Rob Reeves said he was looking forward to the future despite the shake-up.
"Although disappointed with the decision after a 70-plus year association with General Motors Holden, we're looking forward to ongoing business with all our customers in 2018,” he said.
Holden executive director of customer and dealer operations Peter Jamieson said the decision followed a thorough review of the network.
"(We) made the decision not to renew a number of dealer agreements across the country, including both metro and regional dealerships.
"The network hadn't been reviewed for a number of years and we had to make changes.”
Mr Reeves said due to their location, they were unfortunately one of those who had their agreement terminated.
"Holden's decision to considerably reduce it's dealer network, following its previously announced withdrawal from local manufacturing, has resulted in the termination of the Holden franchise for Central Motors Stanthorpe.
"Holden's reduced 2018 dealer network is based on a revised geographical footprint without, unfortunately, taking into consideration dealers' history or performance.
"Central Motors Stanthorpe is an original Holden dealer who has performed year on year, exceeding sales targets, market share, customer care and satisfaction elements.
"Yes, we will not be a Holden franchise dealer anymore, but all other elements of the business will remain.
"Central Motors will welcome any motor vehicle purchasing inquiries and continue to provide spare parts sales, car detailing, vehicle servicing - including log book servicing and repairs and maintenance to all makes of vehicles, including Holdens.
"We have put a much stronger focus on very late model used vehicles of all makes. These vehicles are proving to be very popular.
"Central Motors owners, Peter Reeves and myself, would like to thank our many customers for supporting us over many years and look forward to providing the same level of service to you in the future.”
Rob's grandfather, Bob Reeves, started the business back in 1938, became a GM dealer franchise in 1943 and the first Holden arrived in Stanthorpe in 1948.
"The business and franchise has been in the Reeves family ever since. My father, Peter, and his brother, Michael, took over in 1973 and then I came in with my father in 2006,” Rob said.
"It's pretty unique and I'm very proud to say this business has been in our family and servicing Stanthorpe for 80 years this year.
"I love Stanthorpe and love working with the community and our many loyal customers and look forward to doing so in the future.”

Fark I must be tired. I thought Johnno (meanmachine72) had said Glen Severn Holden was in Stanthorpe.
You can all throw rotten vegetables at me if you wish.
Think I'll go and get some more .

Lots of questions!
What makes you think the car was from 142 (That dealer code may not have existed/been used is the late 70's)?
What makes you think SA?
need every bit of info to dial in to what "May" have been the D/CD.

066 = Preston Motors 104 Russell Street, Melbourne. VIC
There were 52 "Preston Motors" locations. Not all used "66"

So I assume that means the date of sale is important in the context of the dealership location?

104 Russell Street did not exist in the Preston Co after about 1972.
D/CD 66 was still good but probably referred to head office address which changed around several times.
Ordering dealer 66 - retailing dealer for multiple locations - ?????

Cool, thanks for the info. This probably means 104 Russell St is correct for Geoff's late 1972 LJ.

Hi
I have a car with the dealer no 909 - any ideas where this one is from. ?? Bundaberg in Queensland. shop is no doubt long gone
Posted 18 October 2022 - 10:26 AM
I have 909 listed firstly as "A.L. Stewart and Company" and later as "Ross Grey Holden" both in Bundaburg QLD, but I have no dates listed against either.

A L Stewart and Co would be correct from the 60s to the 80s.
