Quite often on the site people request members of the forum to to let them know if a car they have or are looking at is for example, a genuine SLR5000. In these cases, it would be more helpful if you could provide all of the numbers from the vehicle possible as it's the only way to give a positive ID.
In the case of an LH/LX please provide the following
Chassis Number, found on the RHS (drivers) chassis rail next to the radiator, viewed by standing next to the car between the drivers front wheel and the end of the bumber bar.
The chassis number and build date on the Compliance plate
The VIN / PSN , the complete number found on the long thin centre plate of the car.
ALL the numbers from the left (passenger side plate). This provides information on trim, engine, gearbox and diff combinations and paint codes.
Engine number This gives an indication if one, the car has the correct type of block, and two, if it's in the right time period. The engine Cast Code will help too, found on the front of the block above the timing cover.
Grab all these numbers first up, it will make everyones job easier
Thanks

How much trouble is it to get the chassis number restamped if the original number has being ground down due to previous owner folding and welding the lips on the chassis rail over? Trying to locate mine under paint and bog and havent had any luck yet

I'm new to a forum so I might have missed chat on this, but can someone tell me how to read the engine Cast Code. The one I have is not very clear to read and I think it's 20F5 (the dial is on the 2 which I understand is February)

Hi Ray
No, the clock is not date related.
The 20F5 becomes:-
20 = 20th day
F = 6th month (June)
5 = 1975
So, 20F5 = 20th June 1975.
AFAIK the clock is for the casting batch number or time of day of the casting.
