I tried about 6 different companies online quotes and they didn't work

Reason why is they didn't recognise a SS 308 auto

So I rang....... got cover on the spot

And yes...... its probably your age

well i just got one back from justcars... $717 for comprehensive, with an $800 excess.. and i get covered for $1350.

What a joke, and a waste of time.

Shannons WILL insure your LC if you're only 21. Its just that the online calc wont spit out a qoute for under 25's

While you're at it give "Unique Car Insurance" a call. The were the cheapest out of the 3 or 4 companies that would actually insure my LX.

What?

You're kidding right.
That price is actually pretty awesome.
Considering my current insurer RACQ (they still think my car is a 202 atm) is a $2k excess and $210 p.a. for just 3rd party fire and theft and only insured for $2k if it gets stolen!

My new insurer (haven't changed over yet as only just got the v8 on the road) JustCars was $400 p.a. for 3rd party fire and theft at an agreed value of around $6k, they don't care about how many mods are on the car as long as they are legal and you inform them of each one [which they can then bump up the agreed value for no further incurred premium], and they don't care that it's an engine converted (worked 308ci) car for a < 25 y.o male driver.
Excess is $700 in the event of an accident.

I was quite happy wih the help from them, and they're a branch of AAMI.

Shannon's will insure under 25's on a case by case basis. Also helps heaps if you are part of a car club.

Try Vigil too.. theyre in melbourne and cover australia wide with agreed value policy.

My monaro is covered for 20K and costs around $1200 per year.
I do have rating 1 and never had an accident and over 25 now though...

Good luck.. its a pain in the ass trying to do the right thing!

Jesus Tiny, have similar value on the Torrie, although 8,000 limited K's with Shannons for $450/year, includes recovery rights.

I was insured with VIGIL for years but the price kept going up and up while the value of the car stayed the same. Shannons were less than half the price and I put the value up. It's still under $1000 and I have more than trippled the value of the car.

guys

i used to promote "torque" on these forums as i WAS insured with them.

i dont anymore,
all i will say is ,dont use them,
i was with them for over 5 years and they are useless

i wont say anymore other than i wont have my car insured with them at any cost!

shannons are more professional
i have all my families cars with them now!

I might try shannons again just to see how they now compare, but when i was shopping around for insurance VIGIL were the best.

There are no limitations on my car other than all modifications being legal, and i'm free to do any mods i like as long as theyre street legal.

THe only toher thing was a 3 point passive arming imobiliser but thats pretty well standard with any insurance these days.

I'll relate a story abut why i went away from shanons and havent ever rung them since...
I rang them for a quote on the monaro and the guy on the end of the phone was reasonably rude to me especially seeing as i was a prospective customer! Anyway... the comment i will NEVER forget was that they would not insure my HQ for more than 15K "even if it was an immaculate show car" because "its just a HQ"... I thanksed him kindly for his efforts and promptly hung up the phone.

That really stuck in my mind compared with the service ive gotten from VIGIL. Theyve really been good on a customer service level. I have heard that they are very "thorough" in the event of a claim though.

Anyway. thats my reasoning behind why i went the way i did. Maybe now that i'm over 25 and "a better risk" ( Not that anythings changed at all risk wise) i might get a better go. See what happens when the insurance comes up for renewal!

Cheers.

I had a quote from Shannons a year or so ago on that green SLR I was going to buy
$30 000 value. 8000km per year max
Cover for everything except competetive motorsport
$600 year.
They offered me a maximum no claim bonus cause I have had a company car for over 5 yrs with no incidents even though I have no previous insurance history

I now have the hatch insured with them for $5000 as laid up/rest insurance
Costs me $120 year.
As the value of the car goes up with mods and resto I increase the sum insured to match. As long as all the mods are legal

Interesting datto, thanks... ive got the SLR insured under lay up cover for a whole $65 per year... value of $2000.

Cheers.. I'll give shannons a call when it comes time to redo the monaro maybe their attitudes have changed!

my insurance expired 2 days ago so i have been in search of a better policy.
i am a 19 year old driving a 202 LX SL HATCH i have had no incidents what so ever, no fines, claims, even defects (sometimes i think its a miracle). being driving for 2 years. this is my third insurance renewal.

NRMA $531.83- after being a customer of 2 years (ever since i bought the car) this is just third party! comprehensive was to outrageous to mention on a public forum....EXCESS- $400 basic + $400 age

SHANNONS $709.99 third party
$1938.57 full comp with agreed value of $5k- cheapest comprehensive quote i got, but still a bit much for a poor (starting out) real estate agent like me
EXCESS- $400- $400 age

AAMI- $586 third party fire and theft, so better than NRMA covered for upto $5k however according to them a LX hatch is worth only $1950...... :fool: :finger:
EXCESS- $400 basic + $1200 age (seriously!)
JUST CAR (was recommended by the shannons guy on the phone by the way....)
$685 Third party fire and theft
EXCESS- $600 + $650 AGE EXCESS

well thats my research

went with just car as i despise NRMA soooooooooooooooooooooooo much its not funny, and AAMI excess is just too much i mean if i have an acident i pay $1600 and according to them the car is only worth $350 more......

just car covers me upto $2k if its stolen or explodes.....

thats my 2 cents

RED: your probably right mate! But all businesses should take heed of my example...

the 6/12 rule...

Give good service, and your customer will tell 6 of his mates...

Give bad service and the customer will tell 12 people.

Anyway, When it comes time.. I might give them a second chance.

Cheers!
