MATE i have tried to reproduce them as good as i can i f$#@%d around with them for 3 hrs changing contrast you name it but that is as good as it gets. On my computer it is a great reproduction, but when i transfer them to the site they loose there clarity so i'm over it maybe someone can help!!!
FLY my man i think GMH have bullshitted to cams about the production figures,just so they could get the first homologation of the wheel spacers through, but at the end of the day as long as we find the total number of cars in 72 well a WHITE LIE never hurt nobody...??????BUT THAT HISTORY!!!!!
cheers UFO XU-1

It now most certainly appears that every LJ GTR XU-1 built in 1972 was built for a purpose. The first 400 being for Group E Series Production, the rest being Bathurst Specials (Over 1000).

Mine is late Oct '72. I guess there is nothing "special" about the 153 Adelaide and 148 Brisbane (301 Total) cars built between mid Oct and the end of 1972. If I understand correctly, the '72 Bathurst Special specs became the "standard" XU-1 until the '73 Bath.

You guys may well be responsible for rewriting 72 XU1 history and I'm not taking the piss. Singularly this debate which we are well aware has been contested for decades finally gets to see the light of day.
Take a bow all involved
And of course not forgetting ck1971 who started the whole ball rolling

We know where the 200 3/3V cars begin (March) 3/72 & the 200 1/1V cars finish (July) 7/72, 400 in total.
But where did the 200 3/3V cars finish & the 200 1/1V cars begin ?
Could it come down to head & carbies ?
M21 949 (Group E)
V,s
E172 226 (Bathurst)
Heads
M21 = 2-12-1971
E172 = 17-5-1972
Carbs
949 = Rubber fuel lines (3521)
226 = Metal fuel lines (3547)

Didn't the '72 Bathurst spec include the Sprintmaster alloys. I guess the difficulty here is that they weren't fitted at the factory, therefore not on any broadcast sheet. Is this correct ?
I'm sure the early '73 XU-1s didn't get these.
