I'd better do it soon for you, have done a few 308's in the last few months, always thought I must do pics & measurements, just haven't done it yet.

Feb is out due to a full racing month, so I'll do it in March for you.

Craig.

August now.

LXEFI-8 I think you would use torana mounts and sump on a torana cross member.

Geez, sorry for being busy & not spending all my life on the computer,

I've moved workshops twice, re-opnened my old business full time again & have a lot of customers & race vehicles to look after.

Engine mount pictures & measurements have not been on my priority list to upload & then explain what & why.

It may happen soon ???

Relax, i thought i was being patient, i was just curious as to know if hq mounts move the 308 down and back or whatever. No pics required just incase someone knew of the top of their head.

Im patient i have many years left i hope

Thanks Rory, I have seenthis thread before and it does seem that the hq compared to torana have the holes slightly offset morebut id only be guessing which way it would move the engine, Also the link doesnt work for the extra pics and difference in thickness??? That could lift the engine more , so many variances . Thanks anyway but hopefully someone has made the swap and can tell me the difference or if someone is willing to hand over a set of torana mounts ill swap them over one day and let you know the difference hahaha

Thinking ill eventually get a set and just try it and i will et you all know
Cheers

mmm, every 5th or 6th engine I do I know I should make the time do do some measurements & pics for you guys,,

Sometimes the camera is just not handy, most of the time I DO NOT have the spare time to spend to do it,, maybe I should do less work on customer jobs & projects so I can spend more time doing less important stuff,,,,

In time, it will happen, maybe one of the 5 engines next week, I'll see what happens.

I just wanted to reply to get auto update emails as they come. Thinking of putting the 355/T56 in the LC.
I heard HQ's are lower, so I was going for those, but it's the set back/ firewall clearance and steering shaft I'm concerned about...(adjustable upper/lower rear arms will sort the pinion angle)

I dont have any measurements but i run the HQ ones on my 308 with a high energy sump, pacemaker extractors and msd dizzy and i can get my fingers between the sump and crossmember no worries the firewall had already had being clearnce for a chev dizzy but i dont think that would matter and only had to cut down the bolt in the steering knuckle so it wouldnt hit on extractors ill try and get some pics up soonish

Any luck yet ? Has anyone compared the 2 mounts? Does anyone have a set of genuine v8 torana mounts they can send me and ill put them in and take measurements :) , or does anyone have any torana ones for sale.

As far as i can still tell no one has still found out which mounts if any move the engine forward or backwards. Is that right?

I swapped over a set of HQ mounts for Milton Performance V8 Torana repro mounts yesterday. I have only seen about a 10mm lift in the front of the engine, no movement forward or back. Amazingly, the Pacemaker extractors for VN heads into LH/LX now fit very well!

As you can see in the pics kaz put up of the hq & torana brackets theyre noticeable..I'd say rough guess would be 10mm & mounts moved engine a little bit forward because the vn heads sat rather close to the firewall in the lc.

I won't get a chance to pull them off this week & measure though.

How about these.... anyone seen them, used them , know anything about them ?
For $325 they look exxy ... compared to normal plates and rubber mounts... but I can see some benefits in these

Datto,
I wonder if there is a difference between the Torana mounts & HQ mounts? Probably not. I looked at these, I think A1 Hiperformance in Perth sell them also. I agree they look the goods, but like most things aftermarket that fit Torana/HQ-WB - they are for HQ-WB, & can also be used for Torana.
