Interior is stock tartan trim, not a tear on it, car has 61,000kms was an old ladies machine before I got into in. I have new SL/R seats here but there too common and I find them boring, the tartan turns heads and gets the thumbs up everywhere it goes, full retro style.
Car goes good for an almost stock motor, pretty much inline with a stage 1 camshaft if you can even call it that.
The lightness of the car transfers the weight pretty easy.
Weighs under 1295kg with full tank of fuel, the front end is very light you can watch the body move up under torque. Where as my friends LH with SBC Toploader and 9", stock wheels etc. weighed in at 1470kg at the same weigh station, Im happy with the weight for a V8 car.
It lights the tyres easy without brakes. Who needs brakes?

It made 412HP on engine dyno with 407ft/lbs, theres a little bit more in it, that was just tuned to get it running. the engine is pretty stock really just a small stage 1 camshaft, I should of went a bit bigger but seriously you cant put your foot down when taking off as it is, its just wheel spin so any bigger would of been pub talk and bragging rights, if it was Mini Tubbed I could power it up more, but for a cruiser its alright.all i can say is fark man well done it must be a weapon first ls1 ive seen in a torana it must be fun whats the power at the wheels u gonna take her down the quarter?
I need to put it on teh chassis dyno now so they can touch up the tune a little and see how much its lost trhu the drivetrain, it should be between 285-300hp at wheels but these days every dyno is different.
Its not setup right for the 1/4 mile, if I had 3.9's and some street slicks I feel it would go a mid to high 12. The 3.55's are a little too tall.

Quick question is that an exposed pod filter in the engine bay are they allowing those now?

Nope, I made an airbox with enclosed filter for rego/engineering purposes but the pipes were smaller and bends tighter, you can notice the difference in power between the 2.Congratulations LS1LX definitely worth the wait. The car looks magic. Looks like a lot of thought has gone into the choice of colour, wheels and stance.

What this K&N needs is some ducting for cold air, thats next upgrade I need to do when I drive it next, great when its cold after 10 minutes you notice it a bit. ECU adjusts A/F mixture according to air intake temps, so if hot airs going in it richens the A/F to prevent knocking, but it kills HP, so some nice cold air to keep it running at a nice lean mix and it'll be sweet.
Thanks again for all the comments.
Also as for the Muirs sticker, thats the original one still on the rear screen, but you can still get those stickers as Muris haven't changed the design in 30 years, still see new Commodores, Barians etc getting around with the same stickers.

I have seen a Blue LC/J with an LS1, but the quality of your installation puts it to shame.
keep up the good work

Did you end up using the Torana Stub Axles with those 17's on the front?
How much room between the rim and the Top balljoint?
I am still trying to finallise which stub axles I am going to use.
Thanks

Why are pod filters not legal in NSW?
I just checked with the technical section in Perth and they do not have a problem with pod filters. I was worried because I bought a K&N pipe and filter for my LS2.

I would be interested in seeing what you come up with for cold air induction. For the 1/4 mile I was planning to just remove the RHS headlight.

Interior is like new, just not as bright as when it was new, the yellow in the trim goes more brown/green.

A tech article on the conversion would be great for those wishing to tackle the job.

Everyone told me to trim the rails, but man they look so wrong when you trim the rails, so I left them standard width, the extractor pipes are lower then the rails so I couldnt see any point besides making my rails look lobsidedWow, first LS1 I've seen in a Torrie. Looks at home in the engine bay. Neat job too, a real credit to ya. Did you trim up the rails in the engine bay or not?

You don't need a tech article just budget another 10k on top of an average 308 conversion and another 2 years over a 308 conversion

You got it in one, I better cover it upAndy in NSW, A pod filter is not illegal. It is illegal however to have it exposed without an airbox.

Mate Ill do a 308 conversion on a saturday, there easy. But the LS1 requires a lot of custom parts made that usually take time & costs money. You mean putting a 308 into an LX will take a year, and cost $15k?

308 everything is bolt in fit, you get most the parts from Supercheap if you get stuck.

And so, if for a 308 conversion you just take off $10k and 2 years off the LS1 conversion, would it not take a year and $15k?

Thats an awsome build to have completed for your first attemp. I will keep a look out for your other cars over the years to come.

The engine and engine conversion was about $15k, the car owes me just under $25k not including body and paint and a lot of things, really would owe me over $40k.Did your LS1 conversion not take about 3 years? and cost about 25k?
And so, if for a 308 conversion you just take off $10k and 2 years off the LS1 conversion, would it not take a year and $15k?
RIM
So an average 308 $5k and the 1 year was for paint and other bits and pieces for the car not the engine conversion.
