Mate that is f*cken awesome! Love it so much. Sits so nice.

Only 1 tiny little thing I would do to it tho.. Thats take the chrome tailight surrounds off.

Cheers,

Azza

Yeah I left them on painted the car, then thought about it, but it was too late, I actually don't mind the trims though, I reckon it looks better then the big gap without the trim.

I have an SLR 5000 also so it doesnt bother me, I left the body all Sunbird bar the front grille.

who makes the magnaflow mufflers? not mitsubishi i take it.

Magnaflow make Magnaflow, self explanatry mate :spoton:

I prefer the Borla but nobody stocks them in Australia, so you need to import them, there around $350 each but well worth it.

Wow!!!!,Thats completely awsome mate! I love it body looks straight as an arrow, did it require lots of panel work mate? I know mine does(rust anyway  ). I can bet it was a nightmare to fit an LS1 in there!,the only other one I have seen running an LS1 in a Torana is guy over here in Perth with a light blue SS hatch thats simply stunning :spoton: . I asked " how hard it was to fit the LS1 in there?" and he replied"mate you have no idea?",said he used modified Jaguar engine mounts make the engine sit lower? plus god knows what else?.

I bet she'd do pretty damn good over the quarter mile????...............

I havent heard anything or seen the hatch, got any pics of this beast? Is it registered, would love to see another one complete, I know of approx 6 more LH/X's with LS1's getting built, they have all emailed me at some stage and its good to pass on helpful info.

Jag engine mounts, I dont know why you'd want to use them, sitting it lower won't do you any favours for the oil pan unless you plan on going dry sump or cutting the cross member out to fit the pickup tube thru the X member, as it sits its pretty close to x member.

Goes good, no 1/4 mile yet, the track is over an hours drive from me and in peak hour, Ill get around to it one day, but for now its just setup for the street, gearing etc. I just can't find anyone willing to line up next to me though, had 1 guy today at the lights, they went green but when I looked in the rear vision mirror he was about 150m left behind. Still in 2nd gear.

Its actually an L34 model but not as pretty as the Sunbird and doesnt go anywhere near as good as the LS1, thats why I hate driving it, if it went good I would drive it but the sunbird makes it look like a snail. :spoton:

Here she is boys and girls, fully engineered and registered.

Here's where my last 3 years have been spent. Started out wanting a cheap and quick car, then got into it and decided to spend the $$ and get it right.

I should of cleaned it up and polished it for the photo's.

But I am just happy with the end result, I just love driving it, rather drive it then polish it.

Hi

GREAT car!!

I am about to embark on the same conversion basically. (LS1 into an LH SLR).
Can you email me any information you can think of that would help?
Sump
Brakes
Harness
etc etc etc
Basically anything at ALL that can help me out. Email address is [email protected]
Cheers

Nathan

I strongly suggest you make even a vague tech article with a bit of advice etc about this; then less people will bother you asking for the same information lol. Even if it's something simple and not entirely conclusive; that can be expanded on later on, it'd still be unbelievably helpful.

I saw a Blue LX hatch about 2 years ago here in Perth with the LS1 fitted etc, it was getting some bigger brakes fitted when I saw it, but appeared to be running other than that. The guy had put large spacers in between the subframe and the cross member to lift the front part of the body higher from the cross member.

Ive seen spacers for a big block before but its a bit extreme when it fits without.

Ive heard about this hatch but havent seen a pic or know anything about it, be interesting to see what she is like.

Well done mate, top Job.

The lightness of the car transfers the weight pretty easy.
Weighs under 1295kg with full tank of fuel, the front end is very light you can watch the body move up under torque. Where as my friends LH with SBC Toploader and 9", stock wheels etc. weighed in at 1470kg at the same weigh station, Im happy with the weight for a V8 car

for comparison (well soughta)...

My LX Sedan Racer - 350/alloy heads, tremec TKO 5 speed/9 Inch, steel cage etc = 1280 Kg.

I see that you have those rubber bungs fitted to the front rails...

and the biggy... Electronic Throttle body... tricky... how did you go setting up the sensor at the go pedal?

Yeah a short tech article would go down well. I am tossing up between an LS1 and small block and this would help me decide. That is such a neat looking engine bay!

If I sell this car I will put an LS2 or Turbo LS1 in the hatch, if I keep this I will just put a spare standardish 308 I have laying around in it and use it as a cruiser.

Cable throttle boys.

It seems no matter what the model of Torana/Sunbird, lately the Sunbirds seem to be faster than the Toranas!! I could reel off names all day!!

Dont be ashamed that its a Sunbird - they all say Torana in the engine bay!

Its a shame your selling this car, would make a fantastic cruiser! Goodluck to you and congrats to the new owner (when he/she takes ownership!!).

I bet it'd be a beast to drive! If i hadnt just spent $20k on my new driveline and other accessories i'd be damn keen to buy your LX! It got me thinking, i'll tell you that!

The 383 is coming along, it - along with the TH700, is bolted up to my UC now. I'm waiting on a few little things from Rocket Industries now before i'll fire it up. Nobody in AUS has ARP Intake manifold bolts for chevs with Vortec heads... I'm also doing the brakes and chassis kit, and fuel lines before i take it for a lash! I've done my spare UC up as a daily in the meantime, my blue one will be off the road for another 3 months at least i rekon!

Just wonder how much easyer and cheaper you think it would be to do a carby Ls1? so you don't have to worry about all the efi/ecu side of the conversion.
Not to everyones likeing but what about a Lpg setup? that way you prity much cut all the costs of the fuel system out with the government rebait?
Have heard though that a ls1 can't be deadicated LPG for some reason but not 100% sure on that.
Just thinking out loud as i would love to do a ls1 for so many reasons!!!!!!!!!
