gday all,

I have been getting prices on bushes for doing the front suspension on the LJ, however every place I have been to (Burson, Autobarn, Repco) tell me that only Nylothene bushes are avalible.

So are rubber bushes avalible or will i have to put Nylothene bushes in? I am located in Melbourne if anyone has any contacts.

thanks

Steve

use blue poly urethane bushes, if u converted ur car to gas u may aswell convert to a better bush.

depends what you want out of the car, rubber bushes are fine for a standard application. but say if you drop a v8 in and want to stiffen things up a bit due to the extra weight than blue poly urethane or red nolathane bushes are an option.

Noltec are about 25% softer than Nolothane
So you get alittle give but still firms it up

I run rubber genuine GM bushes thru the whole of my car, bar 2 bushes.
It is the nicest, smoothest and quietest torana I own and have ever driven.

If you can get rubber go for it.

Would the rubber ones not last as long as the later products on the market?

rubber lasts well, a lot of torries are still running some original bushes.

there were some photos on the old site of some cracked nolathane bushes, which posed questions of their durability, but at the same time neglect makes anything deteriorate quickly.

I will be replacing what are quite possibly the orginal bushes in the front end.

The car will probably be used occasionaly for entry level motorsport stuff (fun days at Winton for example :spoton: ) but its also a daily driver so I am not really worried about chasing thousands of a second improvement on a race track, if i want to do that i will build a purpose build race car.

I think rubber is the way to go.

i priced rubber and poly urethane when i was doing my LJ, and the rubber cost more!, so i went with poly, and i was very impressed, heaps better than nolathane, i have just replaed all bushed in my LH/LX with poly, very nice ride, firms it up but it's not harsh like nolathane poly is the go.........

yeah i went poly in the uc because of the v8 and its a lot better than the worn rubber ones. mind you the lx has a 6 with mostly nolathane bushes and the ride is a lot stiffer still, if i was to do it all again it would probably be rubber.

Years ago I replaced all my front end with rubber ones. It was as if I had a brand new tori, the ride was so smooth and quiet. The only spot I used nolathane was on my steering coupling which made the steering feel awesome too. Personally I have driven toris with nolathane and it was a much stiffer ride than mine.
Up to you, there are plenty arguments for and against both.

Generally, you should get at least 15 years out of rubber bushes. Rubber is now getting very expensive, which is why it's harder to get most rubber bushes. If you can't get rubber, use the blue plastic ones. Noltec I think they are.

Dattoman sells noltec. I'm getting those off him, won't be another 2 months till I can tell you how they ride though. Getting rubber bushes for the rear, but front is going to be all noltec, bar the subframe mounting (which is rubber). I chose noltec because I hear they have more 'give' but dont distort as much as rubber, making them less prone to cracking compared to super pro or nolathane.

A friend had his skyline redone with Noltec, general NVH is not bad considering he has coilovers etc.

Just got new Superpro nolethane (i think thats how its spelt lol) bushes on the front end of my LJ and so far so good, is so much tighter than before almost no body roll onto corners at all and I dont have sway bars fitted. Also no more squeaks & rattles.

Top inner control arm bushes are available in rubber. I paid about $15 for the 4 bushes from Mackay.
