I purchased some guide plates a while ago for my holden 6 with a black head and yt 5008 rockers. i got new holden 6 yella terra guide plates but they need to be modified to fit a holden 6 and seem dodgy, when ever i think they are rite they end up binding again while you turn the motor .
i dont really want to use them after spending so much on the motor so i thought i might ask what guide plates you guys use when you use them on a 6.
holden 6 guide plates

yep they have a bronze bush, I had to bend them as yella terra say they are now all made for v8's and you need to bend them to fit a six, i tried it and turned the motor a couple of turns and they grabbed, i tried bending it again and the same happened, how can you be sure all six plates are spot on before you start using the motor with yella terra plates?
I have solid lifters, manley pushrods, yt 5008 rockers and arp studs wich probably doesnt matter, i will put a pic up soon.

Sorry no good news fccool....
I have stuffed around with these guide plates for years with no great solution, other than bending them a little at a time till they don't bind.
Another thing to watch for is that the roller tip is sitting in the middle of the valve stem (when viewed from the side of the engine).
As the guide plate is solely responsible for the alignment of the rocker arm relevant to the valve stem, you have to pay particular attention to this misalignment.
Solution.....make your own( i did.. it sucked)
Better solution.....buy a set of Yella Terra platinum shaft mount (bloody expensive.. that sucked too)
But it fixed the problem, as a bonus setting the lash is easier. It is the opposite to normal posilocks. On the platinums, you adjust with the grub screw and lock it with the bolt as opposed to stud mounts which are the other way around.
I'm happy with the platinums and i don't wory about misaligned rocker gear anymore.
Cheers Greg..

I brought set of guides from VPW.com.au several years ago.
They were plastic like, but worked well and fitted perfectly.
The sales rep told me, V8 super cars run plastic guides, true or, i don't care!
I might be able to get a pic for you on the weekend if not too late.
