Nice car Nathan. :spoton:

Someone's done some serious work on the engine and interior as that isn't the way Holden made them.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers Mick.

the radiator is off a 6cy commodore vc , and its not big enough for a v8 on those real hot days, it will be for sale in a few days, has a 16" thermo attched to it. it keeps a 6cy extreamly cool, on a hot day and in peak hour traffic my worked 202 wouldnt go above 82 :spoton: if anyones interested, drop me a pm.

i bought a 4core triple flow aussie desert cooler, and its in the mail at the moment. i also have some nice EL twin thermo fans, might look for AU's tho as there a better fit, el's are too wide. anyone have spare Au's thermos??

yea, iv modified alot mick, Not the biggest fan of stock looking cars, i like them tuff

Ford colour, Chevy engine, Recaro seats Ect Ect...

nah ill get my own, will probly lean towards a borgwarner, seems to be the cheaper option and still strong enough... might just wait around and see what comes along,

giving the uc some tlc tomorow, going to sort a few of its thousands of issues out. :spoton: and some nice penrite oil :spoton: got a 82degree thermostat to suit aswell :D

going to take it to the gold coast on saturday night  should make it home without dramas this time.

Looking good nathan. You have come along way since that yellow beater you brought around to pick up a few parts before you even had your licence if I remember correctly.

hey, yea gav, certaily have come a long way, :spoton:

shame that yellow beast had to go, but it was a rust write off. hopefully the parts you gave me went to a good home! on another torana.

I put the radiator and thermos in and just got home from a drive, i recommend these thermos to everyone, very Very VERY good  and the desert cooler rocks! just sits on 75-80degrees!
bought the el thermos off a mate, he had 2 sets so if anyone wants some in bris, he would probly sell them for the same price ($60).

Issues...

- Extractors hit streering colum, going to fix that toworow by putting some spacers under the steering colum mounts.
- small leak in extractors from bashing them! (sounds worse then it is) hopefully you have angled plugs.
- needs a tune, havent tuned a thing yet
- gbox has no gears, gbox linkage is just flopping around. it in Drive so i can still drive around, just have to start it in drive, lol (next issue to fix). was fine before i put it in... weird.

thats about it for now!

had other problems, like alternator charging and mounting, (do not buy a gilmer drive off ebay) there underdrived and dont charge well for a low idling v8.

Cant wait till its all A1 :spoton:

Dont understand what you are laughing at heath as no one said it was a UC. I know it wasnt a UC. Just because I didnt specify that it was an LH/LX doesnt mean I was calling it a UC.

Accell make header plugs which are shorter... Try those. You can buy them from Performance Wholesale, part number 8199 (I think) That will help with the extractors.

Def get that linkage sorted, probably the selector in the box has come loose.

Have you put that thermostat in as well yet? ;)

big difference between a little blue uc and a dodgy yellow lx with full flare kit heath

yea, already fixed the problem with a hammer and pole, dont think a shorter plug would help the clearance, it was so close, the lead was squished right into the extractor pipe. melted right through and was sparking on the pipe. would expect more from these $530 extractors, oh well :D

yea hopefully nothing major with the box. hopeully it wont cost too much aswell. going to take it to the pro's :spoton: probly the first time iv ever taken my car to a workshop for repairs!

yeap i put in a 82degree thermostat, its excelent, the temp gauge goes up and down lol when cool water is released in, i dont think iv ever had a thermostat before, they work very well!

So thats about the extent to your probs with it eh - not too bad! I still have a few questions...

1. What was your choice of engine mounts?

2. Is steering column clearance a big issue or can another brand of extractors fix that prob?

3. HQ chev sump i'm guessing?

4. Have you (or anyone) ever mated a TH700 to a UC with no tunnel mods, and if so - how did it go?

Cheers

hey

- I got mounts off ebay, but my local performance shop sells brand new mounts/brackets to suit (chev/torana) for $54 a pair! brand wouldnt matter too much, maybe some are better then others?

- the problem with the extractors is the starter motor and steering colum are on the same side, which makes it damn tight! if it doesnt have angled plugs i wouldnt buy extractors like mine,

- Custom high energy sump to suit a chev in a torana, had to get a pre 1981 style (dipstick on the left)
not sure weather a hq sump will fit, a peformance shop might know.

- Th700 are too big, as iv heard. would be sweet having an overdrive, probly worth chopping up the uc for it??

if ya wanna make it nice any tidy, u can drill holes in the firewall and run the battery cable along the floor pan inside the cabin then out the left side and to the battery.

cheers,
nathan

i got the Gbox repaired, all it was, was a loose nut inside the box causing the linkage to slip.

Broke down again! (alternator not charging) gonna invest in a 100amp chrome one..
there $239 on ebay, they any good?

Dave sorted me out with a standard 80A one off a VN(?) onwards V8 commodore, apparantly they're the bomb with charging at low idle. Cost just under or over $200, can't remember for sure. If you've got a 120A one like mine, throw it in the bin, they're f*@king useless!!
