None. I don't know why you are asking me that though, as I agree with everything you've said.

I've had experience building motors, I just haven't built a motor fully myself, or obviously been in a position to fully run one in myself (although I have been taught what I believe is the correct method of running a motor in, and experimented with those methods, driving a vehicle with a motor that was being run in). I also believe that I have a reasonably understanding of how a motor works and the benefits and purposes of running in a motor correctly

And in the past I have talked to Nathan a lot, I have a good idea of how intellegent he is. What exactly do you think my opinion of his intellence is? I haven't stated it anywhere.

i really do need to say that

A wise old man once told me..

Drive the new motor like you always will, every engine i have ever had rebuilt or rebuilt myself i have stuck to that principal and some of these engine have lasted 10 years or longer.

So to say that he didnt run it in properly is a load of crap, first thing i did after the cam was run in and tunned was thrash the guts out of it.

thats a high performance engine, we arnt talking everyday shopping trolley type thing here

Even an engine built correctly to have things happen, generally not but can and does

Sounds like it could do with a bit more bearing clearance.
Was this a crate motor or something you built yourself ?

U dont spend money on the good gear then drive like a granny health and yes it is was run in properly its like with any high performance motor things like this can happen it cant be helped

Yes I'm fully aware of that, I was just checking if Nathan was equipped with the necessary brains to understand why a motor has to be run in properly.

Checking to see if he was equipped with the necessary brains.....

I was highlighting the point that he didn't answer my question and I thought that might get him to respond. I don't understand how a simple, straight forward and sensible question turns into a smartarse comment just because I'm literally a few years younger than Nathan.

poor young heath is getting a bit flames as of late.

sorry to hear bout ya new engine Nathan, these things happen as others have said. all ya gotta do is get back on the horse and build it better. Mistakes are priceless as they make you a better mechanic.

Did you check the thrust on the crank? And the rod side clearances?

Actually it is not true, even with the quality of machining available today the engine still needs to be run in. If you do not run in the engine properly it will never develop its full power or last as long as it should.

You should look at getting the engine run in on a dyno, it will be cheaper than rebuilding it every couple of weeks.

the most critical thing nowadays with running in an engine remains the camshaft and ring bedding in... however I'm thinking Nathans problem lies somewhere else, most likely in the bearing clearances or oiling system. There are quite a few traps for the unwary/novices in building a performance engine.

I take it you're having a bad day . . . right? Surely you don't mean all of this? Not everyone has money to spend on their car. Sometimes it's just not a priority. Don't go and insult everyone. You can always do with a friend but no-one ever needs an enemy.
