cheers,

the 383 will be the final engine... although new heads will come later.

yea the crate block was sweet as... $1100 for a brand new eagle block with cam bearings and welsh plugs and all ready to be built.. and 4bolt mains. no boreing/honing or machineing required and perfect uncoroded water chambers.

going to take all the lower end parts in next week for balancing... i want it to rev up really quickly.. as it will be making power at 6k.

at eagle i stopped and had a drewl over kiethy's ZZ383 haha was chevy paradise there.

I should have more time off in October, i'll drive down again and see it in person man!! It was good to catch up in our '6 cyl' days, time to do it again in the 'chev days'!! How damn uncanny is that!

Your combo is gonna rock man, hell yeah!

If you dont mind me asking, how much did the whole show (engine) cost you? I wouldnt mind comparing the price of a crate motor (mine) versus a crate combo (yours)... It'd be handy information for others willing to tackle the job...

I'll put up total figures if you will...

Cheers
Keith

should have loads more fun with our chev muscle, stallin autos and lsd 9"s
hell yea :spoton:

for anyone interested
all new parts
383 eagle stroker crank $440
strong Eagle con rods $350
Brand new 4bolt 350 crate bare block $1100
Powerbond balancer $150
Hypatec flat top pistons $365 + $80 for rings
main and big end bearings $100
getting the bottom end components all balanced $330
top quality hydro cam and top lifters $380
top gasket set $90

total: $3385 there is always a few things that iv forgotten, not bad for a reliable 350-400hp brand new stroker chev *bottom end*. im sure i have spent more then that tho...

a few thing i already had such as, timing chain and cover, flexplate, fuelie heads, manifold, carby, dizzy, and the rest.

Damn, thats good! Here's mine:

Crate motor (383cu 425HP) $7500
Manifold (Super Victor Edelbrock) $300
Carby (750 Mighty Demon) $650
MSD including coil, etc $1000
Starter motor CVR $130
Alternator (Chrome 120amp) $150
Rocker Covers Chromies $250
Sump $150
Extractors $500
Misc (bolts, nuts, little things) $1000

I may have missed something, but the total cost including delivery for me to have a complete 'ready to drive' crate motor was $11 261.20, all that i'm left to get is a fan belt and HQ engine mounts.

I think your way may have been cheaper!!

Cheers

wow! you got some good prices there!!!

nice! seems like if ya got the cash its worth getting a crate motor.. good reliable hp and pre built. :spoton:

i think iv spent about $1000 on bolts, nuts, little things its crazy how they add up.

Put my 9inch diff into today, went in with ease  no issues at all, very easy :D its sooo massive! its awsome.

the 9inch diff didnt seem to be much more weight then a salisbury, as i could lift the complete 9inch myself and walk with it.

Your crazy for lifting one of them yourself - mine weighs quite a lot and i've got trouble sliding it around on the diff crate it came on...

Anything to look for when fitting the 9"? I'll be putting mine in on friday!

Cheers

nah its all good and easy :D

take your drums off... then slide your axels right out and take the whole rear brake setup off complete!! keep the handbrake cable connected.. and you dont have to rebuild the brake setup or anything, just bolt it onto the 9inch complete.. dont even have to re-adjust

iv done too many diff swaps LOL

I'll keep that in mind... First ever diff swap for Keithy (i've been too lenient on the old salisbury - over 50 runs down the strip and it's still goin strong!!)...

I'll update my thread once she's in (with pics as always)!!

Cheers man
