Ideas that have been put forward so far are:
Cruise to Warragamba Dam for a picnic, A cruise ( somewhere?) And then to Blacktown Drive Ins for a Movie.
Any other suggestions?
One suggestion i'll make is:
A cruise to a southern dam, Maybe Cordeaux dam? This would incorporate a cruise south, include a nice picnic area and parking space ( from memory of when we used to go fanging down there in the torry when i was young!), a cruise back to blacktown to the drive in!
Take a look here :
Sydney DAM Locations
and what's at the dams:
Facilities
My only concern is that i do not remeber the roads in completely, I do recall that most of the places we went to were sealed road just about all the way to the dam wall!
Over to you guys!

Picton for bite to eat. After that we cruise up the
back road to Warragamba Dam for a stickie beak
then cruise down the M4 to Maccas for dinner. after
dinner we take a 2 minute drive to the Blacktown
drive-ins.
Thats my 2 cents worth

I'm easy to please, the dam idea was just one.. where else could be a reasonable cruise to end up at blacktown?

PS I have plenty of cold JB in the fridge... hint hint..
Anyway which ever way we go does not matter to us.. If we go to Warragamba I can bring the beast down (she has no rego at the moment) But if we go south I wil have to bring along the wifes car.. As I said either way does not matter count us in
I am trying to get my mate Roy to come along in either his Torrie or his Monaro with the supercharger.... hope thats OK....

TO cut a long story short, only the Cordeuax dam is open to the public at the moment. There are a few speed humps that could pose a bit of a challenge.. but i reckon i could get the monaro across them with a bit of 45 degree action.
We also went ot Mt Kiera Lookout which on a clearer day would have been absolutely lovely!
Now... We've really got a couple of options...
1) "Short" run... Start at liverpool area, cruise down the M5, turn left onto picton rd, follow it to the lookout, and spend a bit of time there, and then head back to the cordeaux dam.
2) Long Run... Start at Liverpool ( alot earlier), Cruise all the way down the freeway to Bowral, Then cut accross to robertson and stop for breakfast at the robertson pie shop. Then we'd cruise down the mountain and into the back of albion park rail, back up via Mt Ousley and left onto picton rd, stop at the lookout and on to the dam.
The direction we take AFTER that is up to us... the suggestion so far is a run out the back of picton via the oaks, and on to warragamba the back way, and then across to the drive ins, OR depending on how late we leave the dam area, we could go back up the M5, onto the M7 ( Tolls on the M7 need an E tag or you have to ring them), and get off the M7 near eastern creek and the drive ins.
SO!... I'm going top open it up to you guys for a little while to make any other suggestions, and then we'll decide on 2 options and do a Poll on which way to go!
Over to you!

does the short run include a BBQ lunch.
i like the idea of the drive in and think it will be a long day with an early start.
although the forecast isn't that far yet, this is whats on at blacktown http://www.greaterun...ema=6&state=NSW

Basically we can do a BBQ lunch at any of the stops as there is BBQ facilities at each place.
What simmo and i are planning is most likely to pack a BBQ chook and some bread into an esky so that we dont have to worry about an actual BBQ area!
Cheers!

To be honest, I'm more keen on the shorter run myself.. Freeway cruising is all good by me ( the smoother the roads the better for the HQ! Doesnt rattle so much!).
I havent seen the back way from picton to Warragamba/west sydney but there are a few different routes we could take to head that direction to end up or near the drive ins.
As for dinner/food/drinks at/near the drive ins, there are two options that i know of...
1) Eastern creek tavern like we did last time.. Large car park out the front that worked well for us
2) the irish pub on the corner of the road directly AT the drive ins. I think it's called the cricketers arms? We may have to make a booking there but they do food there and good drinks and atmosphere!
Cheers!

The road from Picton across the back to Silverdale and down to Penrith (m4) is not that bad off a run, has a couple bad spots, nothing that will not cause any damage but apart from that it is good..
The Cricketers Arms is a good choice for Dinner, but it can be exspensive...plus you may need to book...
Any way you just let us know and we come along (in the Commodore though) Sorry
