temporary registration costs???

g'day guys, i was wondering wat the cost of a temporary registration is? i dont know if i'm calling it by its correct name but hopefully u know wat i'm talking about.

Eg: For when your car is currently unregistered and you had to drive it to a mechanics to get a roadworthy...

Cost of those (in Melbourne) is about $30 for one day or you can pay around $55 for a week - figures are rough, just going from memory a year ago when I last needed one...
You can go into vicroads to purchase one but I think you need an engine number and chassis and/or vin number. The car must be safe to drive.

Hey, you can ring up Vic Roads and get one over the phone if you have a fax machine and credit card. You need the VIN and engine number and you can get one for as long as you want, up to 30 days I think. They do have a pricing system, like 20 bucks for the first 7 days and then add 1.75 for each day after that or something, about $40-$50 you are looking at for the 30 day permit from memory. Might need your licence number too.

Then you just display it on dash, left corner. Can only drive it between 7am and 7pm and only for the purposes of roadworthy, ie to and from mechs etc.

Which means you can't do what I did and use it to deliver pizzas all hours of the night. A guy at Vic Roads told me that after the fact and before I got caught. Hang on, I never got caught...

You can only have temp reg for a max of 28 days. The other month it cost me somewhere between $60-$70 I believe.
