I like the polishing job Azza looks cool, have you or do you intend to polish the Master Slave cylinder in a similar fashion?

Cheers

I have ordered in all my front end gear today. Bushes, tie rod ends, ball joints etc. I've gone with Noltec bushes.

Also ordered some new KYB shockers. And my king springs will be here soon.

Also got some HQ DBA slotted discs coming for the front :D

Better get this paint done.

hey azza did you just order all this through bursons? i am going to rebuld my whole front end with new bushes etc... how much did it set you back? is it all that necessary to replace ball joints and tie rod ends?

Leigh

Ordered it all through my mate at Autopro.

Cost 813 bucks for everything minus the springs and brakes as I got them through the sponsors on hotholdens.

Brakes cost me 99 bucks each for DBA slotted rotors.

And the King Springs cost 220 for the set.

Bargains galore :D

813 for what exactly?
Balljoints + front end Bushes?

I got the same for my LJ front end and it was a lot cheaper from Datto..

springs are 220. + 20 for postage

brakes 200 + 20 for postage

Hi.
Can you get HQ-WB discs redrilled to suit torana stud patteren? I have also discovered 4cly VC-VH commodores have vented front discs and torana stud pattern so if i cant use HQ ones i'll try and make the commy ones fit.

Yes Heath full HQ front and rear.

I was told by Race Brakes Sydney if you use commodore discs it throws the allignment out. You have to buy a kit to fit commodore discs as well I think. And you can get better offset rims in HQ pattern.

Someone else might have better info than me.

I wouldnt get them re-drilled.. Im sure they would make Torana discs.

well for now I'll just be using the banjo. Apparanty HQ drums fit right onto the banjo. Im just gonna get the axels re-drilled to HQ pattern.

Im looking for a borg warner and as soon as I find one I'll be getting that fitted.

Cant remember I think its about 100 bucks to get an axel re-splined. So probably less then that.

Im expecting the Banjo to go bang'o quickly. lol..

I will take it easy though my days of thrashing cars are over, I've grown up. Never really have thrashed any of my cars though. Bit a stick here and there but that is the most of it.

Azza. Please do yourself a favor and DONT PUT SILICON in your car without some very careful research. Even the supposed 'neutral curing' stuff will eventually be the catalyst for rust. There is a very good reason that it is banned for use in aircraft. "Out of Sight etc "no good at 40,000ft. Something like some of the products from SIKAFLEX ( you'd have to contact their technical dept) would be better. Also, it is a really bad idea to 'overcoat' existing body deadener. I have removed heaps and heaps of this stuff for rally car prep and have invariably found rust/moisture to some extent under it. Might need to do a bit more rust converting after all! - better to do it now considering how far you've gone.
Am following this thread keenly - makes me realise how slack I am. My injected 5l 5spd 8-1/2 b/w diff sshatch has been an on/off project for 10years!More $$ needed. Am being careful to comply with nsw engineering rules as i dont want hassles at the end of it. Your car will make mine pale into comparison -keep up the good work.

Thanks for the info mate. I'll have a look into that Sikaflex gear.

Only reason mine is coming along quickly is Im fresh out of school with nothing to worry about and nothing to do but work on my car :) Have plenty of spare time after work which helps.

Better get a move on mate, by the time your done everyone will be saying "whats petrol?" lol..

Im just gonna keep mine registered as a 253 until I save up a bit more money. Then I will get it all ridgey didge with the 5L.

Cheers

Hey Azza how's the project coming along?
Wondering what your rotors cost you? if they simply bolt straight on or is modification? and what calipers do you plan on using up front?
I'm looking into changing my lx to hq or commodore stud pattern.

What are you doing on the rear??

Cheers,
Rhys.
