Got the brakes through a sponsor on Hotholdens. They were doing a deal for my members during april and may but they might keep it going if you ask. They were 99 bucks each and it was 20 for postage.

You need to change to HQ stub axels and would have to use their calipers. Also put the left on the right and the right on the left, to help with allignment I think. Someone else might be able to shed a bit more light on this.

I am going to use HQ drums on the rear. Im led to believe they bolt straight on if you change over the backing plate. Then I am just going to get the axels re-studded to HQ pattern.

But when I find a borgy I am going to have rear discs..

Cheers

Geez that's alright!

I've noticed on ebay a complete front disc conversion for $300 round abouts.
I have a b/w diff out of a vl turbo cut down for my lx.. how would i go getting the axles redrilled for hq pattern? if i did, do they drill out my rear discs to fit the different stud pattern or would i have to get some new ones machined? Haha sorry if you don't know any of this. maybe i should start a new topic for it.

Cheers,
Rhys.

Hey guys Im in the barossa and starting a similar conversion in the next month or so but will be manual. probably a single rail box from a Chrysler. Also got a VR B/w to modify let me know how you get on with Rodtech on that. Also HQ and VL have the same stud pattern but different offset on rims lxsl76 Cheers

HQ and VL wheels ARE NOT interchangeable.

HQ studs are Imperial, Commodore are Metric. 12.6mm and 12mm, I think.

Sorry for upsetting you RIM what I meant is that they have the same PCD meaning that the studs are in the same place in relation to the centre of the axle. I was really only refering to that fact and yes you are correct they are metric and imperial. VL 12.0x1.5 and HQ is 7/16 UNF. Only trying to help!

Commodore and HQ do not have the same PCD either.

Commodore is 5 x 120mm
HQ is 5 x 4.74" which is approximately 120.65mm

You can slip Commodore rear discs over HQ studs as the Commodore studs holes are larger than HQ and the disc is centered on the axle.

You can not safely fit HQ rims to Commodore axles or visa versa.

See this thread for details.

The Torana PCD debate is covered in this thread.

Gday guys havnt posted here in a while so I'll just give you the latest up to date pics. CBF working out what I havnt posted.

Im now finally getting somewhere. Got a tad slack for a while but over the past 2 days With the help of a couple of mates we got stuck into the torana and from the front windscreen back is now all in primer.

The car is smooth as. Didnt find any nasty patches of bog or anything hiding under the paint. :)

I pulled the front end out today as well. Im sending it to the powdercoaters tomorrow. Then when its back all my new goodies are going into it :D

Anyway Ive got lots of pics. Sorry about taking them with my phone but I forgot to take my camera..

And tonight I started work in the engine bay. Did a bit of sanding and started smoothing it all over.

Cheers

Good work Azza!!

In no time you'll be driving it around again :)

Keith

P.S. Jakelh5li - listen to the advice above, you'll end up seriously injuring someone or yourself if you put anything commodore near anything HQ... They ARE different!

Cheers mate :)

It will feel good when someone asks me "what have I done to my car". I can say more than the usual "I lowered an engine into it" thing :D

I'd rather do it all myself and be able to say "I Built That" even if it turns out half as good as some of the cars going around, then say yeh cost me 6k for a respray, 4k for an engine rebuild, then I lowered it in woowee..

Sorry about the sarcasm lol
