Easiest conversion would have to be a b cast head 308 or even a 253 with an early trimatic then that way only aftermarket parts needed would be an lc/j v8 high energy sump & rare spares alternator bracket. The rest can be finished off with std parts off an lh or hq.

From memory they're a very similar layout to the Holden six, but I doubt you could find many go-fast-goodies for them in Australia...

[sits and waits for a flaming from the Valiant lovers ]
they can be modified to make good power, wouldn't bother with either.
If you want a quick six in it put an rb30 in it, an rb30 turbo would be even better , if your not fussed about going around corners put a V8 in it

Yes you must move the the steering colum (regardless of witch headers you use )
the reason is the knuckle on the colum touches the upper bellhousing mount on the block 308-253
The other option is an after market colum and even then its not going to line up with the original holes
so its easier to just move the one you have
BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS STEP CHECK WITH AN ENGINEER THAT ITS OK WITH HIM MOST ENGINEERS WILL CAN IT ON THE SPOT IF THE HOLE ISNT FILLED AND LOOKING LIKE IT BELONGS THERE
AND THE GEOMETRY MUST BE RIGHT AND NOT HAVE ANY STIFF SPOTTS OR BIND UP AND IT MUST CLEAR THE ENGINE WITH ENOUGH ROOM FOR THE ENGINE TO MOVE WHEN REVEDEDED
A steel knukle should replace the rubber one that is standard fitting on the torryy
And have another knuckle fitted at the rack end of the colum
And wouldieieieie was right with his tips and things i did it almost egggsactlyyyy as descibed by him and all went easier than expected the engine threw itself in and the gearbox followed
The tunnel mods are only needed if your shifter linkages hit the tunnel depending on your box

Lots of good bits about, especially in Adelaide.
Try and find one or both of the Maros bros, I went to school with
both of them and they are forever popping up in magazines for
crazy Chrysler stuff. They were arguably the first guys to pull the 360
from 'slug' status, to monster drag motor, with few $$ mods.
I reckon this sort of transplant would bring a smile to their face.
(265 ===> Holden)
There is an article about on the Widow Maker on this site from memory.
(HB with 265)You might pick up some ideas from that.
Why not try some of the Chrysler clubs, they would be sympathetic!!
"Yeah finally putting something with decent torque ...." etc etc, can har it now.
Good luck with what ever you do!
