Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows the owner of this yellow hatch.

Posted Image

He has fitted a VL Walkinshaw twin thrott manifold, and attached to it a carbon fibre air filter assembly.

Posted Image

Does anyone know who makes these, or was this a once off?

Or can someone contact the owner or give me the owners details so I can try and chase one up.

Regards,

Dave

Perkins engineering made the original "bellmouth" intake for the Walkinshaw race cars, that is what is pictured..
There was one on ebay recently, sold for over $1000....Like all original group A race parts, the cashed up collectors will set the price.
Best make your own i would think!
Get onto some fibreglassing websites and start learning!
You can make up a plug out of surfoam and then disolve it after the glass has been laid up and set.....

Cheers Greg..

Thanks for that Greg, sounds like an expensive exercise just for an air intake!!

I have a couple of options, I have the 'y' piece that makes up half the VN group airbox assy, but I'm missing the other parts, can make it work though.

Or I take a completely different route......

Thanks again,

Dave

ps: PM sent RTS guy

Last weekend I was told by a Torana enthusiast that some guy in Victoria is about to market some twin throttle body manifold intakes using the old VN style banana intake, he's apparantly cutting them down and using the base with a top that presumably bolts on.

I have not seen these as yet nor can I say how much better they should work.

Word has it they might be in the vicinty of $600.00

If and when I have more info on these I will post it, until then you know as much as I do about them.. SFA

Cheers
Herne

Nice yellow hatch. Craigs car was very very nice, tastefully done to a car that wasn't very original to start with, but he could easily reverse what he did to it. I believe that engine is long gone now and the car returned to something closer to stock.

That truely is a beautiful car, the guy has done himself proud!! Does'nt get much tougher than that!!

THe airbox he has used is what i'd like to have, I'm just missing the airbox itself and the rubber pipe that connects it to the y piece.

I had made the assumption that I would have missed out on anymore from Holden, but I guess I'd be mad to not at least try, so I'll give it a go REDA9X.

Failing that, I'll try the guy at formula Tech, thanks for that Phil :spoton:

Interested to see what mod's you did as well, let us know when your in town next,

Dave

How much does he want for the yellow hatchback. Is it a SL or an SS?

hatchssv8 best bet is to PM RTS guy for details on hatch.

As for the intake, thanks to REDA9X I now know how I will do my intake setup, which is different to both the yellow car and the red car.

It's the way I originally intended, but was unable to find one of those flexible joiners to make it happen. Now I have ordered two of them brand new from Holden, so thanks again for that, I should have tried there first!!!

Thanks to everyone else as well,

Dave

glad I was of some help. Here are some pics of my mates ute setup. He did all of it himself, and the original setup was the standard VN type. When he originally did it, it was a fairly new thing to do and you couldn't buy any adapters of any sort, including extractors. He now does conversions for people regularly

i had one of these perkins air intakes on a 355 VS ute and reckon it was a prick of a thing as the K&N filter kept coming loose and sucking inside the air box especially after i washed it and the filter become slightly stretched , made it worst

if i was to go a twin trottle set up again i,d go for the factory air box
