Just wondering what brand tyres make good smoke? For example, if I were to enter a burnout comp I would like to produce real good thick white smoke. What do others recommend for this (apart from big engine, strong box and diff...der)?

Ive got Bridgestone Turunza (love that name!!) on the rears at the mo and I did a practice burnout in the driveway on the weekend (yeah, yeah, noise pollution, neighbours blah blah blah) but the smoke wasnt that impressive at all.

Any suggestions?

Brand new tyres smoke up the best.
RE92's are pretty good for second hand ones if you can find some..

I know a few people that will use four wheel drive tyres as they have a hard compound at last a fair while. But alot run BFG's.

Original Torana tyres are the best. No steel belts (or traction coz they're thin as all buggery!)

The best smoke screen I ever seen came from a set of 30+ year old tyres on a farm field bin (well not on the field bin at the time) and that was on the back of a 6cl torana they were as hars as hell and lasted ages:rolleyes:

Ive heard of people using brand new 205/65-15 Bridgestone RE92 tyres that work very well.

i through some perserverance... (read few sets of tyres) have nbow found that old tyres give some good smoke, and dont seem to get forked as quickly... but thats not too good for a burnout comp, cus they probably wont pop at the end....

Goodyear Ducaro's smoke really well with little effort, and Barum Bravura's are even better. The Barum's are'nt too expensive, and make bulk white smoke, you won't be able to see a thing in 2 seconds flat!!

Sweet !! I gave the Turunza's another go on the weekend (Wild Turkey tends to lead me astray......) and with a few more revs they turned the back yard into a bush fire scene pretty quickly. Silly me still had washing on the line so my work shirt today smells of Willowbank. Not that Im complaining......

Barums are no longer brought into the country. Pirelli bought out Tyremaster ( Barum importer ) and decided not to import any more Barums. Pity.
