Hey Mort, this car is Salamanca red.

The photo is kinda dark though so i dont know if its a good representation of its true color..not a bad shade of red even though im not a big fan of the red ones. ;)

So this week I spent some time down at the engine builder getting my hands dirty . The engine has made great progress and is almost ready for the dyno .

Today I spent some time setting up the shifter ready for the big day when the motor arrives . I hope the motor will make it to the dyno next week , I was suprised how easy it was to set up the shifter . also replaced the T Bar with a 8 Ball :3gears:

So the motor went out to be Dyno today , we have been working hard to get the right setup and expect 530+ fw/hp , who knows exactley what we get back , towmorrow 12 o'clock I will know.

Which brings me to the next question, anyone know a good torque converter builder ?

That look's like Hercules Competition Engine's dyno, 510bhp, gotta be happy with that.

Yep its Hercules , pretty happy with the result , there has been lots of $ spent on the component quality of the motor and not so much the h/p , it actually 508.8 h/p @ 6300 carried it to 6800 and he pull the pin and with 461 of torque . Ned has some tweaking to do I dont expect much more , let’s see what we get , it’s a bit shy of what we predicted , but that on pump so can’t complain . I should have it back on Monday with the result .

Did Ned build the engine? When i was at Hercules a week or so ago i seen what appeared to be an engine very similar to your's bolted to a stand. Could be mistaken though, didn't really pay much attention as i was talking with Ned at the time.

No he didn't, I did a little my self and the rest by another builder that Ned works with . they are an A1 team . at a guess Id say the engine you saw went in this .

Yep, i remember that car being there, i thought it was Tony's XU-1 at first. Congrats again on your engine build, 500+bhp will be alot of fun to drive in a Torana.

Ok So Im back, its been flat out at work, the build is still progressing but not at the rate it was earlier on . after waiting for some goodies from Summit racing in the States , I have mannaged to mate the box to the motor . I ended up wth a 3000 stall , hope its ok . I should be fitting the motor this weekend and have it booked for the exhaust in 4 weeks . in the mean time I need to fab up a grossmember order the tail shaft , find a radiator and plumb up the fuel lines. other than that shes almost ready to go .

So the SL/R has a heart . I had a little help from a mate and a few spectators, but all said it could be done with 2 people but 3 is a good number. I made up a lifting jib and wrapped it with rubber so it doesn't do any damage.
Having a forklift made the job nice and easy with lots of fine control .Still need to fit the cross member, but now I can finish all of the smaller bits like the, shifter, front seats, console, front carper and dash. This will complete the interior.

Next week I will be ordering a drop tank and tail shaft. Most of the wiring is done and just need to fit the ignition module and coil. Also need to finalize the brake lines and bleeds the system; I bought one of these for that job.

How easy/hard was it to get the outriggers of the k frame squeezed in between your chassis rails?

I lubed up 2 pieces of 150x50 x 1.2 mm thick gall sheet with grease both sides , and then slid them between the outriggers rubbers and the chassis once they were close to each other , this gave it sort of like a shoe Horne effect. Once the outriggers met up with the sheet and grease they slid right in, no problems :)

The whole process took about an hour .
