very nice work, i have to agree the hoppers are a pretty easy fit and work great. I was lucky enough to get them before their prices shot up a little but still good value for ease of changeover.

Keep the pics coming, great looking car :spoton:

Were the tops of the doors in the interior painted or trim?

I believe the LH was painted and the LX had the vinyl trim.

Love your work, any chance of doing this to my car when you finish?

lol.

Not true for the SL/R models, LH/X SL/R always had the full vinyl door trims.

Yes it is ,but the pics make it look a little darker . out of all these pics i think the boot and the rear door is the closest .

Have you thought about using LX headlights and surrounds instead of the LH lights/surrounds with this paint scheme? i know the car is an LH and all but you have already kinda changed its identity with the hybrid LH SLR & LX A9X paint scheme you have gone with..the LX lights will look heaps better.

I like the look of the LH lights, although I don’t mind the LX look, every man and his dog has the round ones. Although it is an SLR and I probably should have restored it to the original paint and condition, I’m building the car they way I like to see it.
In my opinion building a car for everyone else’s eyes to me is pointless, it will never be yours, this is what makes our passion so much fun .

Mind you the small things I have changed are simple things to ring back to original, I am currently thinking of redoing the paint on the bonnet to the LH blackout style ....Just thinking

It sort of looks that way in the pics , the fluro lights in the shop make it look that way , the pick below is more like the color .

I agree totally.

I prefer the LX look myself so I got an LX.

The LH is a model that stands up in its own, even though you can modernise it with a different paint scheme owners should be proud to display its heritage as an LH.

Yeah, i hear what you guys are saying its just that a car painted in the A9X paint scheme with LH lights kinda looks weird..? ya know what i mean? ive seen a couple before and it just doesnt look right. I do like what you've done with the paint by the way its very nice..years ago my 74 L31 was painted as an A9X but these days im more of a purist so i'd paint it as per original if i still owned it. You could still get away with using the LX lights on a 74 LH SL/R though as the L34 was the first to use them..many people used to change them over to the L34/LX headlight as a period mod.

p.s! if you're thinking of going back to the plain bonnet and SL/R stripes for more originality you should also use vinyl door tops in your interior trim! lol now im really nit picking. :D

I agree and think round headlights would look the business on your car.

Really enjoying watching this car come together! Love the colour (makes me think twice about my choice 'Azure Blue' which is similar, lol).

Have you decided on wheels? old school? / new with a low profile tyre?

glad you went with flares it looks tough!

Im sort of thinking you right ,on the other hand I may go back to the LH blackouts .If anyone has some LX headlights hannging around let me know if I can find a set Il do the conversion .

Yeah I ordered a set of Hotwires from Neals Wheels 10"x15 for the rear with 285/40/15 Yokahama and 8"x15 for the front and 225 rubber , i should get them this week together with some other goodies , can't wait .
