I will confirm
No they don't fit over our brakes
Close... but would need about a 5mm spacer or some machining of the wheel

And they don't fit Alex's Wilwoods either
Which are not the same as either of the 2 sets in this thread

He's right...I have a problem..

We need an alloy hat that spaces it out or something similiar..Thats the B45s centre sitting hard up against the caliper and still 10mm or so short..
Suggestions Oh Great One? Interesting that the 14 x 8 Hotwires clear...dont make me go 15 x 10 hotwires..the wallet cant handle it.

Looks like a common problem with bloody simmons and decent size brake upgrades-TAKEN FROM HOPPER STOPPERS WEBSITE IN REFERENCE TO THEIR BRAKE UPGRADE KIT-
4/ Keep you standard disc stub, mount to the rear, and bolt on our 290mm by 28 kit with no cutting or hitting of anything. Minimum 15 inch wheels needed, same problems needing 8mm spacer for Simmons. (You Torana guys seem to love those Simmonds wheels too!)

How come they run these in the HQ series with no problems?

OK I want to use the simmons ive bought...any other brake caliper/setups recommended??? Datto-or anyone what are these like?
http://www.hoppers.c...2007/index.html
Looks like regardless of brakes, if I use the simmons I may need a spacer...???

Taking into account what my car will be used for, 1 lap type racing, not several, what brakes would be best suited????????????? I aint selling my simmons!!

This is what I have done with mine, I know it looks like a ridiculous size spacer, but as you can see, it has been secured using the studs with a lock nut on each one, that way the studs are supported

Datto I am wondering if longer studs and an alloy spacer will solve the problem..only thing then is it throws the offset further out. That could be countered by used at different offset inside but we are getting carried away now.

Heres the answer...the hotwires have a built in 15mm spacer at the back...backspace is 4 1/2 inches on a 14 x 8.

The offset might be OK Rory if you only use 8inch simmons

So maybe Longer competion wheel studs and maybe a small spacer?

Yes Rory it will...
But on a positive note it will improve your scrub radii and do lots of good things for your steering geometry. :D
I had a similar problem recently, except I went the other way and got a deeper hat with more offset and spaced the caliper further inboard. I wouldn't suggest you guys do that.
Sams solution looks the most workable, and his wheels are on a dedicated track car that will see much more stress than what you guys are planning. :D

Cheers Greg..

NOS,

Yep..then you reduce that offset in the rims..i.e.,...that bit you spaced gets added to the inner rim and taken off the outer rim..understand? They do it on open wheelers all the time. I am not sure you need to do the double nut thing Sam did..if you use thicker threads..then the wheel bolts up hard to say...a 15mm spacer it should be OK..BUT!..the hotwires and Challengers has their spokes actually pointing out to the outer rim..that angle might also be needed to clear the calipers..so it may be more than 15mm...if you get my drift.

So you're not using simmons now? I might still go a different brake setup to you. Your money has been spent on brakes so working around what wheels to fit is best for you, ive spent money on wheels so I need a brake solution

We still have no solution to the problem that i'm happy with.

Not prepared to accept spacers as the solution. :<_<:

Not a lot i can do till iget home anyway. Although Datto is doing a stirling job in looking for options.

Dont most of the HQ guys run 14's? Maybe they have the same spacer on the back like the hotwires?

See here is the problem if you go Sams way..maximum out for the rim..nearly/probably touching the outer guard...these are 15 x 8...now add in 15 x 10..See my problem?..They are through the guards.

I think I will buy a 15 x 10 Challenger and see what needs to be done to fit it.
