7.30pm, back in Blackburn, load up all the recovery gear into the Rangie and off!
At scene:
Fan hit rad and took out 4 tubes just below the top header plate.
2 of these (magic stuff) leave the cap loose, 1 stop on the way home to top up.
10.30pm back at Blackburn after dropping the passengers off here and there(they were on there way to Inverloch for the weekend)
Midnight.
The shrapnel.
It's O.K. Dad, I'm off work Sat. & Sun. but I need it for Mon.
Hit a BMW, nothings too good for my kids!

The lads are all OK, and doesn't seem to be any structural damage.
You going for replacement panels or beat those out?
Nice rubber, and plenty of it! What are the tyres?

The tyres are Hankook 866 205/60/13, about 6 months old.Wow! you don't muck around Rob!

No structural damage? Is this structural?
I cut it out to weaken the rail to start the repairs.
Straightened it up and it's ready to go back in.
The skirt was also kinked. Faint yellow circle.
The skirt was pulled in the direction of the arrow to tap out the kinks.
The next pic shows how the rad. support was sitting (blue line in comparison to yellow lines) and was pulled in direction of blue arrow off a "sky hook".
Yellow parallel lines show what it looks like now.
Spent half the day picking up a bonnet, guard and grill. My LJ will be donating a radiator and fan for the mo. and the front bar will be made "adequate".

My old man would have lectured me for hours about my driving skills and habits and said "so now, how you gonna get to work monday?.... dont look at my car! "
Good work Rob, I reckon if I bring around my hatch you could have it finnished within a couple of weekends

Thankfully my darlings aren't anywhere near driving age yet!!! At least he's given you two days!!!!!! Funny as.
PM me if you need some bits, I have UC guards, front apron, and front bar (you'll need your rubber strip).

Who much would this have cost at a panel shop, & how long would they take?
He's going to owe you a fair bit of lawn mowing & car washing I reckon.

There was one rule in sailing I loved "avoid collisions at all costs, even if you are in the right". Maybe they should introduce that one to the road.
When are you starting on the BMW?

I have a plan. Pics later.Wow Rob, thats awesome! Your son is pretty lucky!
Hows the boy paying you back?
Car was finished (to a drivable state anyway) at 10pm tonight:
Skirt repair is "ordinary", black circle, needs relieving, bar came up sorta kinda OK'ish.
Welds on rail were "tidied" but left to maintain strength. Blue circle indicates repairs on top of the rail which came up good. No bog or Hi-Fill used at this stage.
Oh yeah. Guess what? Metric thread guard bolts on this one too!

Funny how in the panel shop the air ratchet does not know the difference between metric and imperial guard bolts.

I told him to leave them in the glovebox. At least he will have clean ones to change into after his next "little accident"
