Yeah sure did surprise me. Great info though.
480hp!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!! Ours isn't speced like that!! Not sure on the horsepower of ours, its just a mild 308. Hoping for around half what you have. It has mini spool diff, muncie 4 speed, h/d clutch, heavy swaybars/springs, volvo? 4 piston front brakes and commodore rear brakes, fuel cell, aluminium interior panels/dash, etc.
We are very low budget, so we will be looking to race in this series http://www.motorraci...stralia.com.au/ in "Sports Sedans" category. There's 3 rounds a year, all at Wakefield. Wakefield is only an hour from Canberra where we live so works out well.
Cheers.
PS - Does anyone have an idea of how to tell what stud pattern our car has? It is very close to commodore as my commodore wheels fit on but not sure it is exactly a commodore stud pattern? Also we were going to get new brake pads from Race Brakes - Melbourne, does anyone have any comments on brake pads?

Okay so I have digested most of the info in this thread, great info.
But my main question was to do with rear springs. So with all the excellent information on front springs/shocks, is there similar information for rear springs. ie do the bedford rear springs fit the Torana too and are they good spring rate and ride height? Or does anyone run with Kings rear springs for racing and have had good experiences with a particular part number.
Cheers.

Wow, I didn't know that many people read the Girl Guides Forum.

Hazz...Any Lovells or Kings are 260-300lbs. They should be fine..thats what most people are using. I am running 280lbs std height rears on the MHDT L34 replica. 15 x 10 slicks. Thanks for the tip Welby. I know of Datto from another forum so will ask. Cheers.

Rory whose rear 280lb springs are you using ?
Do you know if the Lovells or Kings are 300 off the shelf or need to be ordered as a set poundage?

I have a set of 4X4 Pajero Iron Man gas shocks...looked at them yesterday..how much did you cut out to slip them in from the bottom? I might just fit them from the top inside the spring. These things are huge.

They were already cut on mine when I bought the car, sort of hard to describe, its been opened up on one side to the edge of base of the spring seat. I'll get the camera out and take a pic for you tonight....

or are they only necessary when using 1000+ springs?

so would the pajero shocks with a softer front spring?
or are they only necessary when using 1000+ springs?
I dont think the larger shock would be necc for a softer spring, just go with the standard Koni specified for car. The only reason we go to the bigger shock, is because they can keep up (control) the heavier spring better.
What are you looking to use the car for?
