Gidday, you will mow through $10,000.00 grand easy at the Panel shop just on the body and thats at mates rates this should include 2Pak Paint, insurance work is there priority as they get better price but with NRMA squeezing Panel shops resto work is a good earner. $3000.00 for the standard motor this will be a real good job but probably not cover any HiProformance mods as $3000 can be blown just on the head if you let the rebuilder go crazy with the Dye Grinder, Interior try to do a lot your self, buy the trims $500.00 and take the seats to the trimmer $500.00, new hood lining $400.00 fitted, do this after the panel shop before the screens are refitted. New Front Screen and both rubbers, rear screen will probably be OK $400.00, Do you keep going on the drive line and under body. So youv'e spent $15,000.00 and your'e half way this is without any little suprises as anyone whom has restored a car knows just how deep the can of worms and there hip pocket must be.
BTW Please allow a number of years for all the above to take place as nothing happens overnight, jump on the roller coaster and enjoy the ride. Always explain to the missus that its an investment and the $30,000.00 plus the buy price of the Torana will be recovered when you sell it. As Red A9X Says the bitter tast of poor quality remains long after the sweet taste of low price has been forgotten. Nothing is truer than this statement when restoring an old Car. Hell you could buy a $50,000.00 dollar Commodore this week and it worth $25,000.0 this time next year.
