I went to a car show today at Ballina. There were some really nice Toranas there that had a different style of headlight. They had a chrome section in the centre of the sealed beam which is similar in style to some European cars. Does anyone know what they might have been. I couldn't find any owners of the cars or I would have asked them

I have searched the internet and they are a called a diamond cut headlight. Anyone know where they can be purchased.

If they are the same as my ones in this pic below I got them a last year at a swapmeet. Don't quote me, but I think 'Pete' on these forums may be able to get hold of them through his work...

There was a guy on eBay who was selling them, dunno if he still is or not. Might be worth a quick browse though.

Be advised some mods are necessary to fit parking lights in these.

I have found out that a brand that might do the job is an ALTEZZA brand sold in Australia. Has anyone heard of this brand.

ALTEZZA

Hmmm... i don't like where this is going at all.

For the referance, Altezza produce all of those lamass ricer chrome section taillights for cars mainly of a Japanese/Korean origin, then again the style originated from Euro cars a bit and has been adapted to other cars like Falcons and Commodores even. They're a world-wide company and I'm guessing their lights products are of a very high quality because of their success in the market. I guess anything that fits in a 6" Headlight to suit a Torana can't look at all rice unless it has 'Angel Eyes'.

Anyone else know about these 'diamond cut' lights?

They are two little shiny things on the front of your car, usually glass covering a shiny reflector. With the operation of the appropriate switch they illuminate. Commonly have three modes of operation:- parkers, low beam and high beam.

On the LH in particular, they had some really good drugs going around the GMH Design Team and they decided to develop these really cool square ones. Unfortunately it wasn't till they came off their high that they realised the error of their ways, the rest is history...........

Oh, those headlights, sorry dunno.

On that note, with a little bit of modding to the backing plate, you can fit in halogen replacements for the LH and retain the original square look.

They are Altezza's and are made in China. They do not give you any better light in many cases they give pourer but can be made up by bigger globes. Purchase the proper parabolic r4eflector ones and you will be far happier.

or, you can buy them off ebay, and get a brand new pair of H4 headlights for the price of one new one from the wreckers, and they are great.
Mate of mine has those diamond gay light things.
they look pretty cool, but thats about it
cheers

Thanks everyone for the input. Sounds like I'd be better off getting a pair of quality H4 style semi sealed beams with good globes and forget about those fancy fan dangle ones I thought that they might give a better light but apparantly they aren't any brighter with the equivilant globes
