Comparing a 253 sump to a LS1 sump is not very helpful as you do not know where the engine is sitting and the sump starts in relation to the cross-member.
Comparing your measurements with the CAE sump should tell you if it will fit. If you want I can give you the measurements for where the engine mounts on the LS1 are in relation to the sump using CAE engine mounts.
You could also try ringing Castlemain Rod Shop and ask them for the measurements. They have a modified Camaro Sump to suit an LS1 LX in the workshop.
If you are in Perth then you can come around and try it.

How is the oil filter mounted on this sump? I can see the oil galleries and the cutout for the filter but there appears to be a piece missing.
Do you have any more pictures or information?

I have emailed them about the sump/oil pan and it comes with pickup and oil filter adapter. The photo on the link is different to this one I posted as they have increased the capacity by kicking out the sides. They emailed those photoes this morning. (Their price is really affordable with the exchange rate. Plus approx $60.00USD delivery).
But since you mentioned the oil filter etc (which i didn't notice), I"ve also picked up there is no sump plug either.
I will email again to confirm what is required. (may not be the bargain I hoped for)

For an LS1 To fit the LX, you will need to track down a sump from a CAMARO
Be it from a 68 to 76 i think I know that the 68-69's use the same style crossmember as torana/HQ
Best luck would be giving ebay a shot in america

One thing to note is that none of the aftermarket sumps are designed to have the gearbox bolted to them. I am lead to believe that the standard sumps are refereed to as structural sumps because the gearbox is strengthened by bolting to the sump.
This picture of the VZ LS2 with the standard sump shows the gearbox mount.

If you are not running a LS1/LS2 gearbox then this is not a problem. I have a 4L65e so it is preferable to have a structural sump.
I have given up waiting for CAE to make an LS1 sump to suit the Torana, they tell me any week now and have been saying that since Sept 06. I have purchased a LS1 Camaro sump from Eagle Auto for $660. The front of the sump needs to be cut and shut to suit the Torana. This will cost around $200 at CRS or CAE.
Something like this.

This is similar to was LS1LX has done.

The depth of the LS1 1005M dry sump pan is 3.750" (95mm) at the deepest point of the scavenge "bumps".The front is under 2.0" (50mm) I will send you a link to the web site picture of this pan. Shipping via parcel post air is approx. $120
All the dry sump systems I have seen in Australia have the scavenger pump at the front which will not clear the Torana crossmember.

Ok, I have measured the clearance with CRS engine mounts. This sump will go close to fitting without any mods. Maybe where it kicks out on one side could be a problem. One thing to note is that none of the aftermarket sumps are designed to have the gearbox bolted to them. I am lead to believe that the standard sumps are refereed to as structural sumps because the gearbox is strengthened by bolting to the sump.

If you are not running a LS1/LS2 gearbox then this is not a problem. I have a 4L65e so it is preferable to have a structural sump.
There is about 13mm clearance from the deep bowl section of the sump to the cross member. As the engine is sitting without a gearbox the sump may be closer or further depending on the final angle when the gearbox is installed. Without the gearbox the engine was angled back towards the ground at the flywheel which would bring the sump closer to the cross member.
There is about 4mm clearance with the steering rack at it mounting points.
After LS2LXHatch comments on structural sumps I think I'll modify a camaro sump. I'm going to run a T56 gearbox.
If the bolts to the gearbox throught the sump are not really required then I'll use the sump from the car shop in america.
cheers
