I still miss that old girl,
This car turned heads wherever I went in it. I sold it to buy a courier van in 1989 and it ended up with a guy in down south here in Adelaide. The last time I saw it was in 1997 in a town called Medows, a young guy had it and the car remained as I had sold it other than he added a 5-speed Toyota box to it.
I understand she is still around down south and is still registered.
SA reg RMH 881
Would love to see her again one day as I fondly remember getting up to some crazy things in that car
"Cheers"
Alf

LoneOranger LJ XU1 in 1975
Black outs on this car were done in Phantom or Gunmetal.
I can't remember which, only that it was dark grey metallic.

Wish I had more pics of my early machines...
Now, for 1975, that LH spoiler would not have been
very old. Didn't take the aftermarket boys long to
make the LJ version! I guess its much the same as the
HSV stuff for the VT+ etc, being made available in VS guise.
Great pics.
- oh, and go the Tigers! (I'm in West Pymble mate.)

Re the SLR Spoiler
It was a genuine SLR spoiler Not aftermarket.
We cut it down and filled in the circular cutouts around the blinkers.
A few weeks later it got an SLR rear spoiler and the bars were colour coded.
I'll see if I can find pics.
In the early LC photo, there is a spoiler under the front with 2 Watson cams stickers.
It was also a cut down genuine GT HO aluminium spoiler.

I like talking, But I prefer listening.
I'm from Rory's era, so you've probably heard it all before.

Here are some pictures of a car I built, but unfortunately never quite completed - sold it to buy pavers for a new house It was sold with all parts to a guy down Sutherland (Sydney) for $3000.00 around 1987.
Sorry for the poor quality but its a picture of a picture.
Car was a genuine GTR, stolen and recovered and bought at the wreckers for $800.00. Complete but dented and very messed about with. spent $6000.00 on the paint and panel in 1985, lots of cash back then. Colour on top was a Sigma colour, while underneath was a stoneguard then linamint. All underneath the car was detailed with lots of chrome parts including top and bottom 'A' arms - 1980's style
All the chrome was done by the guy (John Strachan) who built one of the most amazing vans ever Alley Cat (jag powered). Spent over $3000.00 with him.
I was a founding member of the 'Torana Owners Club of NSW'. It only lasted a few years but had lots of good cars including a white A9X that we restored. The car was on the front cover of Modern Motor? magazine and ended up being sold into Campbelltown Sydney. Had number plates 'GMHA9X'.
Anyone know the car? Lots of stories about high speed runs.

Number plate 'OZ 5000' - I'm sure hoping that this car is still about as he really looked after it extremely well.
Pictures are from the last ever Yennora Woolshed car show.

Had 1 3/4 SU's but these got ditched in favour of 175 CD's.
A young me and my younger brother - he's in his 30's now and ended up owning a string of drag cars, including a couple of Torana's. Infect them early I say.
Sadly this one ended up wrapped around a tree and dumped at Simsmetal. Cried for a month as I put lots of work and dollars into the car. I used to put a new 'better' engine in every six months!!! I have a picture fo it smashed up somewhere. We cut the roof off and made a convertible.

This LJ had a worked six with Webers until they got too hard to tune and he opted for 175 CD's.
We would take our girlfriends out to dinner and get a seat next to the window so we could watch our cars We knew our priorities, even back then.
His son now has an LJ four door which will no doubt end up as a hottie.
