Yep, Datto is on the ball.

I picked up a set of V5's from Retro wheels. They had been ordered for an A9X but never picked up. 15 x 8 & 15 x 11.
i planned to add a second pair of 15 x 8's before the race, giving me a race set of 15 x 8's, and a rear pair of 11's for display and transport.

Unfortunately, the front not only doesn't sit correctly in the odd-bod hubs,( Thanks Harrop ), the bolts that hold the centre to the outer rim foul on the caliper.

The backs fit the diff / rear hubs / caliper perfectly, but will be of no use if i can't find fronts to suit.

so i need to wait untill the diff is installed to do a final measurement all round and see if i can get a set of 8's remade, or sell these (buyer waiting, thanks Dan) and find another option, probably local superlites as time will be short.

Thanks Brewster.

Heath the size needs to be 15 x8.

Targa rules state we can go to 16 x 9, (C3), but i am having a hard time finding r spec rubber to suit or 15 x 8 (C2) which gives me a good range of rubber choice. (225 15's)

Lastly, i don't like the look of the challengers and the only set i have looked at , won't fit the front or rear hubs.

IS TOO!...I am after some info on Simmons offsets front and rear later from you maybe..NOS and I could change plans and run B45 centres as they look more like the Joondanloops or whatever they are called with the centres painted black....so I could just order the inner or outer rims I need to make the wheels up.

I like the 45's and would gladly have them, but my team won't let me.

They will look good and be far easier to keep clean.

Ha ha, funny story, my young bloke always gives me a hand washing the STi rims down after some clubsport. bit of father son time. Any how, we undo the box in the family room for the first time when the V5's arrived. I pull the rim out like it's christmas, yee har , look what i've got.
dead pan, he takes one look at it and says. ' Orrr Dad, how we gunna clean that !!!"

Funny as.

any how.....i digress

As soon as we have it all sussed, i'll gladly pass on the info.

In hindsight , we should have gone commodore stud pattern with Harrop, maybe we would not be in this spot now!!

I don't mind if you buy B45's
I just prefer the V5 look

Just find a wheel that fits the brakes and looks period and I'll be happy

HB Boys... :spoton:

Looking good Welby :spoton:

It certainly has got me thinking a lot about doing my next project... I have nearly finished my current one. I have a race meeting next weekend... then get the daily Hatch registered... let that settle and I'm into the next Hatch project!

Q Is the car going to have any graphics at all or just sponsors logos etc?

No graphics at this stage,
I'm actually not that happy about covering it in sponsors logos, but, without some of their cash.........

Rory, i have to take full credit for using Harrop. Ron's outfit popped up 3 times while in the planning stage so i went for it. Front brakes, rear brakes and floating axle conversion to the A9X diff.

At the end of the day, due credit where it belongs, the gear is first rate. It's just unfortunate that the didn't deliver what they promised in the first place, and secondly the brake package had to be returned 3 times, and lastly ....

Never mind, we won't be using them again.

Sunday afternoon update.

Dummy fitted the oil catch can, radiator and fuel surge tank. They can come out when the engine gets here and will only take a few minutes to reinstall.

Very nice, who did you get to do the fab work on the tanks?

Something I've found, when you have an ally radiator with the straps welded to the tanks, make sure you insulate between the straps and rad support, otherwise vibration will cause cracks along the welds.

Thanks again.

KRL did the Alloy,Tanks, based in Maddington. I'll let you know my thoughts when they are plumbed in.

Floor mounted pedal box is in, however the pedals are not connected as yet.

We have angle mounted the box to a floor plate and secure that to the floor. It was made to be removable for alterations / maintenance

i'll do a photo as soon as Datto waves his magic wand over them. :spoton:

It'll have to be a magic wand 'cos there is not enough room for him to get in there. Fatty Datty might get jammed in under the dash and we'll have to cut him out !.

I am not so sure about mounting the swirl pot right in the nose considering this area might sustain serious damage in a crash and obviously you have considered crash damage because of the roll cage.

I would think getting a swirl pot made to fit inside the fuel tank would be a better option and the vent line for internal swirl pot can be direct into fuel tank and pumps could fit up the back under the floor.I think it could be a much tidier option.

I know ATL make fuel cells with internal swirl pots and thats probably the way i would go for a competition car.

Nice hatch and keep up the good work and i think we all really appreciate the photos.

Can we blame your wife for feeding us?
Or the crew cheif for the iced coffee's and Mars bars ?

Havn't seen quality fabrication work in an engine bay like that since the ex Beasley/Lawson XU-1 here in Adelaide!!

Welby, you and your team ought to be commended for turning out such a great looking car :spoton:
