Very happy with them.

The soft sidewalls give them some flex, the tread sits quite square on the road.
They are quite sticky for good hook up cold and they are not too bad in the wet.

At this stage, a good allrounder, seem to be wearing well.

I'd buy another set.

I'll post a pic of them in the new Jongbloeds very soon !

Hey thanks for the info Any chance you have checked out the Avon CR6ZZ at all? That seemed to be another option for road legal race rubber.

Avon's and Silverstones were'nt available locally when i picked up the michelins.

New wheels arrive next week(ish) so i'll get some new pics up soon.

Less than 8 weeks to Targa !

Just back from the paint shop after the having the stone chips and race grime cleaned off.

The rear flares were shot, stones had practically wore them out from the insides. Fronts were shot, same story but also had some cracks from bottoming the spoiler out on one special stage.

Spoiler was shot too, lots of little cracks and wear marks along the bottom lip.







while she is undressed, i will post some pics up on one of the many flare threads for those that are interested.

Hey orange, You're about right.

But in this case i'm retiring the old girl from motorsport and will be just enjoying her as my 'sunday car'. The odd club sport day and club run.

Definately not a show car but not a daily either.

Dial ridiculous amounts of negative camber in all round, and then dump it to the weeds and don't re-install the flares. Get the Opel Kadette look going on

Just retiring the car, not the driver.

Keen as mustard to do some more but not sure which way to go.

The Torry took 12 solid months to build and we used it 4 times in the next 12 months, doesn't seem quite right.
I've sold off the STi now and am keen on doing something else.

Going quad webers and some other small mods and i really just want to drive it, it really is a sweet handling car.

While I want to do tassie and adelaide , i don't think it will be in the old girl.

I may lease a car for next year, just to be involved, but i have a new project on the boil for 2010.

I just watched the Targa West DVD.
(Hint for next year, - don't piss the camera crew off before the event !)

Got all fired up again after hearing David Moir (2nd place) talk about having his penalty (5 minutes) reversed, then hearing Mike (3rd place) talk about his altenator belt letting go. Still don't understand how you log a competitive time when your parked up on the side of the road with your bonnet up.

But honest, no sour grapes !

Had a good look over the winning 911 replica. Weighs about 970 kg's with all the f-glass work it has. running about the same horse power as us.

The car is retired so i can enjoy it as is. We made a mistake on the speed restricted zone, otherwise we went as well as we could. I'm genuinley comfortable in our performance, just pissed off at the result.

To do better we need to lighten the old girl up dramatically and i'm not prepared to butcher her. I'm not that good that a kilo or two would help and i'm not driven by the podium.

So at this time the old girl is retired. Thanks all for the words of encouragement.

Do you think you could have got away with running a stroker crank and was there any real engine scruitineering at Targa?
There was no engine scrutineering at all other than checking it had a carb, no injection.
Targa rules allow for stroking in both C2 and C3 categories.

Did your front harrop brake calipers bolt straight onto stub axle or was an adaptor plate required?
Bolt up. having said that, initially they sent commodore calipers , Datto picked the error by eye, when they sent the right ones, they didn't line up on the rotors and needed some extra machining, again, lucky we had datto aboard. But they were sold to me as a bolt up item.
In fairness, the rears bolted up straight off.

Datto always said that if he was building the brakes, we would have done it different. When Datto came aboard, we already had the basic setup.

Hey big fella.

Yes the TKO is in, bought a complete kit from Mal Wood. The only thing that looked odd was the crossmember and the only issue i have with it is it looked a little lightweight.

It all bolted up lovely, and fitted the factory shifter hole dead centre.

Starter motor needed to be one of those little ones to assist in clearing the extractors.

Can't complain about any part of the kit or fitment (except aforementioned x member)

You may remember we were chasing vibration issues early in the piece, they all dissapeared after we raised the rear of the gearbox up on some shims.(lots of shims)

It is lifted as high as possible giving consideration to not touching the floor. Vibration gone.

It has been suggested that the floor could benefit from the A9X T 10 'bubble' but at this time, i see no reason to modify the floor pan. I say this because Ian Tate has made mention that he feels the engine is not 100 % perfect in its front/rear alignment in the engine bay and if we lifted the gearbox further it would fix this issue. He has said it is not out far enough to worry if we are not having issues anywhere else. (this comment was made during the great vibration chase, after we lifted the 'box and cured the vibe).

As to the shifter, side on it has a dogleg but the body of the gearbox sits well.

As to performance, best answer i can give is that i rarely mention the gearbox. Good shift , good ratio spread, i have to think about it when asked to comment on the box. Just forget it's there, 'cos it does it's job. Very happy so far.

Only thing that springs to mind is the ongoing debate about gearbox oils. Mal Wood sent Auto Trans Fluid and argument around the traps is not to use the stuff. Buggered if i know, i'm not a mechy fitter.
