Hi Dave,

I may have a trip or two over the next couple of months.

I am involved with the new Gas Turbine Generator being installed but only go to site as need be for a few days at a time but I will pm you when I go next.

I have been trying to catch Welby there as I see the Hurcules cranes and persons stay at the Seasons.

Cheers

Baron,

lx308 has also fitted a TKO in his hatch. There were clearance problems the first clutch master Mal Wood supplied. The second one Mal Wood supplied in this link looks to be the better option.

Thanks ls2lxhatch.

I hope to retain the mech clutch so I will not need to modify the firewall.

I was hoping to see how the trans/shifter mech comes up through the original floor pan hole.
Ben at Mal Wood said I would need to trim the back of the shifter hole. I wonder if this is to get better drive line alignment considering Welby had to shim his up.

I would love to crawl through an actual install.

Hi Baron.

Don't appear to have pics of anything useful. Other than the box sitting on the floor.

Happy to happy snap anything that you might find useful, if i can.

Only thing that springs to mind is the ongoing debate about gearbox oils. Mal Wood sent Auto Trans Fluid and argument around the traps is not to use the stuff. Buggered if i know, i'm not a mechy fitter.

I have a Mal Wood TKO600 as well but have been using the full Syn Auto fluid (green stuff) and have had no drama's.....what do you use then?

Gear box is great...no probs. My only problem was selecting 5th instead of 3rd on the downshift from 4th.....especially turn 2 at Oran, but thats an operater thing. When this happens the engine goes quiet and you dont have any engine braking...it threw me at first as I thought the fire went out...but soon worked it out. :fool: and of course you generally overshoot the corner.

Thanks Welby.

The particular area I am interested in is around the shifter hole. A shot from inside the car with the shifter boot removed one day if you do any work there would be great.

Did you trim the shifter hole or massage the tunnel area?

Did you use the GM box or the fraud? (different input shaft lengths)

Do you live far from the Perth airport as I may do an over nighter before travelling on to or back from Newman so I can (with you permission) have a sticky beak.

Cheers

Hi mate.

Pics can be organised as you wish.

I have done no work to the shifter area at all, nor have i done any work to the entire car floor other than paint n pretty preperation.

As to Gm or other box, i can't tell you. Mal wood knew it was going behind a 308 into a Torry and supplied accordingly.
Is there a cast or part no that may help?

I will post the pic of the box on the floor for the hell of it.

Wait out.

I'm a fremantle fresident who works in northbridge.

If you were staying o'nite, we could arrange something, in know Dave wanted to say hello as well.

Thanks alot for the photos Welby, appreciated.

If you ever take off the shifter boot in the future, that photo would be the clincher for clearance for me.

I plan to put the black epic on a hoist next week for a poke around. I will try to get the measurement for the GB output shaft centreline to tunnel distance to check against yours. To see if it varies by much.

If and when I come over, I hope I can give you some warning. Things happen quickly at my end.

Cheers

Caliper has regular ears on it and bolts straight to the stub
They fitted these steel spacers to get the caliper centred over the disc as the screwed up and sent Commodore calipers first up
We had to send the whole brake package back and get a refit done as it was way off

I'm sure Welby has some pics though

Hi Baron.

I'd be happy to take some pics, here are a couple that may not cover what you are after. I'll snap some over the next day or so.

If you are thinking of these, i'd be inclined to let Datto talk you around to a different choice.

Datto bolted all this together and was often heard to say that if he had got to me before i'd bought them, we would be using something else.
The quality of Harrop wasn't top notch ( and v pricey) and now that Ron has sold........ who knows.

1 question would that exhaust be legal for the street?
i need to replace my dump pipes (dust makers) and i do like the idea of side pipe.

I don't think i could name all the different ways the car is not street legal.

Just the exhaust noise, location and the roll cage kill it for me.

The car was built for club sport and is set up that way. I enjoy driving it on odd days and don't cause any drama so its been so far so good.

Thanks for the comments though.
