Hello Tim.

I built an A9X race car. It was a Group C tribute and is very succesful here in local club competition and targa west.
It has been a class winner 3 out of 4 years raced at targa, and has been the first of the muscle cars every year.

It has delivered an acceptable time at Bathurst, and i like the finished car.

The rear diff came from Ron Harrop and he said it was one of his old group c housings. It has floating axles of 28 splines, a 3.55 ratio and runs an eaton positraction centre.

I have a spare VK centre with BW modifications and a hand built stock type centre. They all work the same. I have spare 31 spline billet axles for a detroit locker, but prefer to use an LSD for targa work.

The diff has not given any issues, but after the last targa i have some 'bits' left over. As you saw in the last couple of pictures above, it appears to work ok.

But,

If we did it again, i would go with a totally different way of mounting the diff...maybe a 4 link, watts, etc

Also, i would dump the big salisbury just because there are alternatives with modern centres, greater choice of ratios, better axles, available parts etc.

It wouldn't be a 9 inch, but that's me.

Having said all that, you don't see me rushing to swap out my current setup :)

have a look at Rorym's BW write up, its a sticky i believe.

Hope this helps.

....old group c housings........ runs an eaton positraction centre.

So the eaton suits the 10 Bolt?
Are they still available for 10 bolt?

Suits it very well Baron.

And as soon as i have 5 minutes to open the diff up, we'll work out where the spare parts are from.
