Its abit porno so might need a NWS warning in the title
Something quite sexy and alittle carnal about a flared hatch

The diff is being held up making the centre mods to accept 31 spline axles. Also, we have not laid our hands on a good crown wheel & pinion set yet. (although we are on to some bits)
The gearbox is in queensland awaiting a truck to pick it up, the flywheel and clutch are enroute to melbourne to meet the engine.
The engine is awaiting the flywheel and pressure plate for final balancing. Heads are complete, all the parts are on the bench waiting to be assembled.
Need to organise an engine frame for freight and the exhaust headers/extractors.
Front crossmember is at Datto's and as soon as the new spring s arrive, datto can assemble all the other bits.
The car gets the bumpers today, a cut & buff tomorrow and will come home tomorrow night.
I can then start to reassemble the interior, the dash and most importantly for me, i can start to rewire the old girl.
New windscreen ordered today, i need to track down some mylar for the windscreen and hatch glass rubber.
That's it for the next couple of days.
Good clear outside photo's Friday / Saturday.

Loosely, Targa West September, Targa Tassie Rookie Rally next year, Classic Adelaide next year.
Anything and everything local in between .

Ouch... wasn't the car already pretty straight? Or did it still have a lot of bodywork to be done? It'll end up about 10 grand toddles.
Quoted 8K.
Looks a million bucks though... that result is amazing.

Car was very straight with a 5 cent piece rust bubble on the drivers side C panel on the join.
Car was back to metal on some areas and the main costs were incurred in panel cutting and reinforcing around the flare area, and the prep work for painting inside and around the cage.
I am not unhappy and believe i have my money's worth.
The job has taken 3 weeks and he was only contacted 2 weeks prior to starting the job.
The guys are absolute chrysler car fans and general muscle car nuts. They have really put in a lot of effort and a bit of heart and soul.
I've paid for expertise and quality and time.
I think it's money well spent and certainly in line with the original plan and that is, to build an A9X Hatch for less than the 60 K that was being asked when we started the project and turn it into a racing car for less than anotrher 40 K.
All up i budgeted 80 k and we are on target.

ps. I always had Steve Coads Monaro as the benchmark for car prep. We are also still on target in that regard.

My mate who is a proffesional panel beater painter and has been in biznes for over 15 years and does alot of restore jobs would charge alot more then that. Oh and he would take 3 months not 3 weeks.
Paint jobs arnt cheap and not alot of shops are willing to take on a restore job like this. If you get a cheap job the quality and care just isnt there.
Nice looking car Welby.
