I've been a member on this forum for over a year and have been amazed by some of the projects on this site, i've decided to post my car up in hope that i'll actually get off my ass and finally do some of the mods i intended to do a year ago . I'm a 2nd Year Electrician apprentice and am lucky enough to have a good boss, who pays me well enough to fund the modifications i've always wanted to do to my car.

Specifications
UC Torana
202
Sloppy M20 Gearbox
Looks like a pretty new Paintjob my friend reckons its 2pac

Here are some pics (i hope they work)

And Here's a Photoshop my Girlfriend did of my car. I think it looks awesome

The only Modifications i've done so far are:

Halogen lights
changed from Mc6 filo to M20
2" Mandrel bent straight through exhaust
15" Dragway Indy Replica's with Brand new 205/55/15 on front and 225/50/15 on rear (these are old photos, i dont have any yet with the new wheels)

Future plans with parts i have:

Yella terra head - porting , larger valves, double valve springs
Triple Su's 1 3/4
Celica Conversion
Electronic Dizzy

Parts im still after:

A Mild cam around 30/70 or a bit bigger
Starfired Conrods
VC Tail lights

My knowledge is pretty limited with torana's, so this project will hopefully teach me alot. I'm eventually going to put a 350, hopefully in a few years time because of the P plate restrictions in NSW and for my own safety :D

Cheers,

Jaime

Oh by the way im going to have a few parts for sale soon like some Aussie 4 speed gearboxes, yella terra head, camshafts etc

Your car looks like its been well looked after. The paintwork looks great and suits the car. I would photoshop the tailights before chopping up the back end. Good luck and enjoy

The lights will look brilliant if done correctly. Note the last bit of that section lol. Work out exactly how you're going to execute the conversion before cutting into it.

May I ask why you swapped the MC6 for the M20?

Speaking of commodore taillight conversions i saw a vb-vh sedan with vk-vl tailights and it looks very ugly looks like the lights r sticking out each end bya good 10-20mm

Hey Heath,

In the end it wasnt my choice to swap to a m20 - the mc6 was stuffed i could rotate the Gearstick 360 degrees, something to do with cogs etc. A friend of mine actually pleaded for me to rebuild the mc6 he reckons they could be made to be pretty tough, but the majority of people say otherwise.

Ahh well if it's in the condition you described, that's fair enough. Like all old gearboxes that I know of, they get pretty sloppy after time.

Can be made to be pretty tough? Mate they're way tougher than an M20 from the factory :D

My friend reckons his was as tough as his T5... he just rebuilt it with a hot clutch... which is what I'll probably be doing.

I would have rebuilt the MC6 if i were you! They are a smaller box and lighter to spin up! I have personally not used the m20 before, but if my UC is anything to go by, the MC6's are one tough box even standard. Mine saw 370 000km with only oil changes and is still in great condition, went down the 1/4 mile to run 14.7@101mph over 50 times and not a hint of playing up!

I like your car and i'll bet it looks pretty hot with the dragways on there!

By what you describe it may have started life as a Sunbird S, what numbers are on the build plate for eng, trans, raxle?

It's funny you guys say this, because he did describe the mc6 as a "mini T5." I probably would keep the 4 speed to rebuild, but would like to do a fair bit of highway driving so will be upgrading to a celica box.

Thanks Keithy, i will try to get some pictures of my uc with the dragways on it asap. I wouldnt mind getting a similar time to yours but i think its highly unlikely. I also just scored a pair of vc tail lights, now just for some photoshopping and plans on how i will actually go about it.

Hey devilsadvocate, i did forget to mention it did start life as a sunbird. I do not know what model though.

oh and i've also added small salisbury lsd to my shopping list, i know they are not tremendously strong or common, but would be able to hold and be fun on a 202 uc

Cheers

Im guessing the S model, as you mentioned installing QH lamps, no rubber on the bumpers.....or side moulds(though many choose not to refit these after a respray)... and it looks to be no trim on the inside window sills.

The SL Sunbirds didnt come with trims on the inside window sills devils - mine is a genuine SL Sunbird from factory and has been in the family since new...

You would be surpised how many toranas are sunbirds. They even say torana on the body tags.
