I'd call an engineer. I think you'd find they are as you've changed the structural rigidity of the car. Also changing to coil overs so therefore moving the shock mounts will need to be looked at. You also have a 9 inch there thats needs certification. Its pretty cheap. A guy up this way does the whole lot for about $400. It may be more somewhere else but you can shop around. Its worth doing to keep it all legal.

mini tubs dont need engineering from what i heard. this car is barely driven and if it is, its usually only localy

mini tubs do so. And you have moved the shocker postions, that has to be engineered too. The fuel will never pass like that. You need to be able to fill the car from the outside, not the inside. Wait intil a brand merc hits you up the ass at the light, you pay for the new merc

I agree with the others, if you consisting of taking this car on public roads try and get it as legal as possible .

mounting coilovers and stuff will need engineering papers because the mounting points have been changed and unless you a ticketed welder they will want to check the weld for structurally soundness.

It comes down to besides hurting yourself.. its if some of the components fail and cause damage to properly /lives of others.

As for petrol can, filler on the outside with a breather that leads to the outside.Fuel vapur is heavier then air so it WILL sit in the bottom of the wheel well.Waiting for the nearest spark.

Besides all this crap mate... You done a bloody awesome job .I personally would of tackled this project differently.

1. Get car
2.Consult engineer with plans
3. Do as engineer requests
4. Engineer to check work performed
5 .Car successfully rego/street legal.

Yeah i know it cost more and takes more time, but in the long run both for resale and safety/legalness its well worth it.

fuel system is just about done. surge tank and pumps are connected to #8 bulkheads in the boot floor and in the engine bay a line runs to a T for a return to the tank and both connect to bulkheads. i gave up on bending up the 1/2 inch fuel lines to connect the front half to the back half so i will join them with #8 (1/2'') braided hose. just have to attatch the lines to the car every 300mm.

f*ck braided lines are expensive but. we used to use em on the modified when we ran it years back. cost an arm and a leg, ive got a few bits of it on the torry, and some fake shit that came with the triples (but looks pretty) haha.

keep it up dude. looks good.

or like "let him do what he wants to do" maybe ???? :spoton:

if he gets caught, its his problem, and i dont think he is going to drive something unsafe. i know its wrong immoral and all the rest, but sheesh, hes gunna do what he is gunna do, so why bother with the crap?

Hi Mate, I love your project.

Just a question with your fuel system.. what is happening with the T you have before the regulator? You said it's a return, but if it is wouldn't it be starving the reg of fuel? I only see one line going to the reg. From what i've read, you should have a return style regulator with an input, carb output(s) and return line. If that's a regular dead-head reg, it's designed to work without a return.

I'm almost ready to do my fuel setup and I'm scoping out what other ppl are doing to get the best result. I'm going surge tank and lift pump too.

Cheers
Marty

Awesome :D "They" reckon return is the way to go on a carby, even though practically no one does it. I think i'm gonna save up the extra cash and run a return too.

Hi mate, Nice work. Could you tell me what size your fuel cell is? It looks about the 38 ltr one, 17x17x9 ? I'm about to do the same thing and it makes it easier to see one in the boot for room etc before i order one. Cheers.

nice car buddy. rear end is near perfect if i was you id re drill the holes for the rear plate on the bottom side of the plate so it sits up in the recess in the rear bumper a bit better.

just an idea.
