Beauty, remember the pics!
Yeah, been too busy ATM. I thought pics of a Tremec & brake parts wouldn't be that exciting!
Thanks for the encouragement.

Gitten a bit closer to actually having a car too! ha.
I think between LX5008s rebuild and yours, we have all
seen more of the 'inside' of a torrie than ever before.
Makes it easier to understand where/why rust forms.

I'd hate to think how much the rust repair has set you back. I had a mate that works from home in his shead and only charges $40.00 an hour do some rust repair on my old XY. All he replaced was both torque box sections and the front part of both sills and it cost me $1,300.00, mind you he does great work, well worth it.
I'm looking forward to seeing her all dressed in yellow, keep up the good work.

Must be mad. But we're only here once, so may as well do what you want while you have the chance.

Body work isnt cheap eh!! I had a bit done to my blue UC when it was painted two years ago, they quoted site unseen and really i think i got off easy for $4k. Darren looks like he knows his sh!t, its good to see you've got someone on your side through this whole shebang!
I've been down the same road as yourself, when i purchased my 383 chev i had to send back nearly half the gear as it was incorrect. I'm the stupid one for ordering a great motor with bloody vortec heads though...
Excellent work mate!!

Good to see another hatch done properly.
Thats good, My hatch is going to be devil yellow as well.
Totally agree with doing it right the first time, once all that rust work has been done it will never need touching again.
Your panel beater is doing a great job to, well worth the money.
Cheers

Got the engine back from Bob Campbells a couple of weeks ago. It made 370 hp @ 5,700 & 520 nm's of torque @ 3,100 rpm. The dyno guys didn't record any data below those revs so it may some more down low. Sure is gonna be grunty! The horrible blue rocker covers will go for std polished VN style.
Have also got some cermaic coated extractors to go on.
We are still waiting for the dash & most the interior, but we should have a body back in 4 weeks or so.

looks like your doing a fantastic job on your hatch. Im just starting my own resto on a SLR5000, although a 4 door, I will be going thru a pretty similar process to you. Looking at your photos is scaring me somewhat.
Wondering if you can help me with a few questions...
I read that at one point you were at 12k spent on the body, also that when you started you could see very little rust. This concerns me as to how much rust is still hidden on my car. Looking at your photos Im wondering how much indication you had of the amount of rust in your sills? Im planning to bead blast the body before going into the shop, hopefully to save time and money. Did you ever consider this process? Looks like your repairer may have spent some time stripping the car and Im hoping to avoid this cost. What percentage of his time do you believe he spent on the stripping process?
Thanks for your help , good luck and keep up the posts.
Very informative.

Orange LJ, I can't remember what the power specs were but I told Mal Wood I needed to handle 400 hp & 400 ftlbs of torque & this is what Mal reccomended. Welby has a fair bit more than this in his targa hatch & he has a TKO 600.
Have a look here, you might find some more info. http://www.malwoodauto.com.au/
We have stalled a bit waiting for parts but we are on the move again & we should see some colour soon.
Cheers.
Click on transmissions then TKO kits. Almost double the price shown for full kits.

I ended up with a Wilson rear spoiler! I rang him up, sent a cheque & he sends 1 over.
You must've upset him.
