Awesome build, has come up really well, gotta be happy with it.
17x10s on the back will fit easily and if WA runs under the NCOP they are legal as ls2hatch has explained. I also had to go through all this getting my car approved. Im running 17x10 billet specialites on the back with 315/35/17's and they fill the guards up very nice, would look very tough on the back of the hatch. The billet's only took about 5 weeks from the US and were $500 - $600 cheaper than showwheels.

The only possible problem maybe the track width over standard under the NCOP rules. I also found a biiiiig price difference buying direct from the US. Even with the dollar 80c.....

Yes, wheel track was an issue as the 10inch rears will have to sit inside the guard too far and probably looking a little bit funny. I haven't measured what the wheel track is now with my new rims and offset, may be able to bolt them up and check it out if you like.

The track legal issues may be solved by using the A9X track as the baseline.

Looks great. I'm on the same time frame, by Christmas. I did some work until my back got sore..
It's very hard when you start putting a car like this together as you have this huge urge to replace everything new. I even bought new brake hose clips and painted them black.
Who the hell looks at a car and says, hey nice brake clips, are they new?
It's a disease I tell you and I'm a victim. Going by your thread and pictures you also have it I'm afraid. I find having some mates over can be just the ticket to keep you moving on the car.
Watching this thread very closely. I wonder who will finish first...Me or you??

Hey andy, do you have a figure for the original A9X wheel track? I went off 1372mm for the rear so with the extra 25mm it takes it to 1397mm being the maximum allowable wheel track.

Agreed, I tried to get the 10's accepted here in the ACT using the same argument as previously put forward re engineering them etc., sadly no way will they entertain them. Fingers crossed it may change one day and we get a happy outcome.

What a ripper thread and an outstanding job you are doing. I am watching with alot of interest. I will be starting my build soon and am now scared shitless about the rust I might find but you get that. By the way what brakes are you running? Cheers on a job very well done.

Well it's been a while since I updated here so here's a small update. Sorry about the crappy phone photos.
Got the K frame coated in por 15, rebushed throughout, fitted back in & brakes on. I was assuming 15" dunnydore rims would fit over them to use as rollers but they don't. I'm now looking for some 16" steelys to use.
The other half got excited & cut the trims for the top of the doors & fitted up her side... LS2LXHatch loaned me his old trims for a pattern. Thanks Andy.
We have some new rare spares door handles but the old ones are nicer! So we will paint them up before they go on. Looks the goods, I reckon.
Have also por 15'd the diff & fitted the centre & handbrake shoes. Just need the bump stops & spring top rubbers (isolators?) & then the diff can go in. It's slow progress but we're getting there.

awsome job,cant wait to see it finished. i picked up a set of hsv rims to roll mine around on.offset is wrong,but at 20 dollars a rim,for 16x7 u cant go wrong.

Eastern motor trimmers in Vic, $700 from memory...
There is also a couple of others that do them, but I can't remeber who they were. Boomfunk will know. We also got rear trims & seats done to match. Probably couldv'e got it done in leather for the same price...

, but that wasn't with Easterns originally. It took 10 days after I rang Easterns direct, however, I timed it well as they had just recovered their dies from being stolen & were doing hatch trims that week.
From memory the seats were around $2k. Over the top I reckon for 2 buckets & hatch rear seat in vinyl. But, it's what we wanted & they look great.

They know their stuff when it comes what was fitted to early Holdens & the Torana's. I'm told that they are the best in the biz for trims & seats.
