Thanks for the reply orangeLJ & Mick, will make sure we pack the tent pegs as tie downs LOL. Also wanted to know what the go is with stuff we can use for displays... can star pickets be used? I wasnt sure as some parks/ovals etc dont allow them as they can damage the grass hehehehe (like Torana's dont do that anyways LOL).

Cheers
Kel

TORANAFEST UPDATE

G'day all

another update on Toranafest..

We can confirm today that none other than Harry Firth will be attending our show!! :spoton: This is great news, and I would like to thank the efforts of a forum (and club) member, UFOXU1, for making it happen.
I can also announce that ex race mechanic, Dave McLean will also be there. For those of you who are not familiar with Dave, he was heavily involved with the rebuild of the Brabham L34 Torana in 1976. His knowledge about Toranas is unbelievable.
These two (along with a couple of others, yet to be confirmed!), will be available on the day to answer your questions and also to hear a bit about the old Torana race days..
So far entries are coming in, thick and fast and we have had an enormous amount of enquiries from everywhere including Perth!! I can tell you now, there is going to be an amazing line up of cars this year, and anyone who doesn't attend will truely be missing one of the best cars shows of the year!! :spoton:

I can also confirm that this years show will have more things for everyone. Kids will be able to enter a colouring in competition where they can win prizes and entrants will recieve a special edition of Torana Torque, our club's magazine. This will have over 40 pages and will showcase everything that is Torana!! There will be an auction on the day as well as vendors selling their wares, including Harry Firth selling his own posters, etc. There will also be some very limited edition merchandise on sale as part of our 40 years of Torana theme.

as more info comes to hand, I will post it here.

cheers
Mick

toddles,
Bring it, put it out with the others.
As Mick said, there is an encouragement award.........:D

Mick,
is it possible for Forum Members to all park together?
I would recommend all club members to park with your club, but anyone here not in a club could all be together....

Hey Grant

that would not be a problem, I will just need to know numbers NLT the Wednesday before the show as we will be marki9ng out areas for clubs etc later that week.

That goes to all clubs that wish to have an area set aside. I will need clubs to let me know numbers NLT Wed 12th Sep. Without this, I cannot guarantee that clubs will get all there people together..

cheers
Mick

Never too early to get excited, i really need to get my entry organised but, i usually forget and enter on the day, but this year there are alot more atending, so might not do that! i need another shirt for the collection.

If eastern auto upholstery ever get our trim bits to us (they prmised them a week and a half ago) then we might just get the XU-1 ready. but its looking bad.

as for the orange one, i will be there no matter what, although, might take me longer to get there, as i just lost another 3 points last night, and im down to 1 point..... so need to be a good boy for 10 months till i get my blacks.

Mick,
if I bring a large two-pole marquee that will take up 12x16m including the ropes and very large pins, will I have room to put it up.
Say behind the cars somewhere.

A GMH-Torana.com meet and greet tent or something.

We could also put cars all around as two cars will fit between each pair of ropes.....

Cheers,
Rhys.

Grant,

12m x 16m....

mate, are you setting up camp for the day or the week??!!

honestly, it's probably way too big for the area considering that we are planning on two circles of cars in the ring.

We had expected ppl to come with the "smaller" 3m x 3m shade shelter, but not that big!!

Unfortunately, we can't even put you to the outside of the circle as alot of this area will be taken up by traders, vendors and amusements..

If you like give me a call.

cheers
Mick

Dave,
pull your finger out.
You've got less than two months to get the old girl rolling.

I want to use the big one, cos we can get 6-8 cars under in case of rain. :P
