Anyone happen to know roughly what a 308 weighs complete, an what one weighs with gearbox attached? Just looking at an engine crane and stand.
Cheers

Red, what do you need an engine crane for?

A guess would be 250kg for a long engine and about 280kg with an aussie 4 speed attached.

Red they are exactly what I have. I have lifted a 304 motor and g/box in and out of my car without a problem. One thing I would do is get a load leveller with the crane, makes the job a hell of a lot easier.

i use that pair also RED.
the wheels on the crane are quite tall and fit ok under my car. a friend uses the same crane on his lowered car and has fitted smaller castors, to get under the crossmember.
they are cheap imported crap but do the job. if you have the opportunity to pick one from a pile, pick the one thats welded best. i was tempted to grind out and reweld mine.

FYI hare and forbes make a similar priced one that has a double action pump. I.E. it pumps both on the up and down stroke of the handle.
