yea she's a purebread rotty. shes 1. there a pain with a tail thoe so many broken cups ect. lol

Nice! I was going to guess 1yo, looks like a slightly bigger version of mine, who is 7months old now!

The tails do look strange, but you get used to it, and it's always wagging as well!

my dog is also Rottie x and has a tail and he jumps in to the back of my Hi-Lux ute with ease when its time to go for a run and i think he could jump the 6ft colorbond fence if he really wanted to but he knows if he leaves home his bags are packed for good thats why i can leave the driveway gate open and he dont go past it but then in saying that if someone walks down the driveway he goes skits at em Posted Image , and with the bike in the dinning room i think the main reason she wanted it out was our 2 kids 2yrs & 1 yrs at the time loved to climb on it and she was more worried about it going over and squashing them Posted Image

Just a question about size.Posted Image

I am gong to build a big shed and I live on 25 acres so Ii have lots of room.

What is a good sized shed that will give me plenty or room to move around considering I will use it as a workshop with some benches etc. I will be keeping a tractor in there, 1 or 2 cars and I am going to build a boat.

I think it would need to be about 10 x 12 m at least what do you think?

Have you read this thread Dom??

You can never have a big enough shed.

Get as big as you can afford.

You're going to need at least 4 bays for storage of the bits you've listed, plus probably double that for when everything is in parts.

So yeah, I would say at least a 10 x 12 but bigger if you can afford it.

Thanks for the responses. So I guess you all reckon BIG, yeah?

And I'll definitely need a hoist.

I'm on a bit of a slope so I'm also thinking under floor storage area the wide of the shed by half the depth. It should be about 1.8m high under there.

Well i don't have my own shed cause my house takes up most of my block so i use my parents shed for storage and working on toys. This is the shed when i started building the torana, i don't know the measurements but i know it's big enough to fit 6 cars in when it's not a sh!tfight like in the photo where there is only enough room for my dads Cobra his EH prem and my Torana.

a little while after that pic was taken the four post hoist turned up which made life alot easier.

however since the arrival of Michelle (my shell)

the Green Machine has been living it up in the garage at my place and my SS has been booted outside.

had a re-arrangement in my shed on the long weekend-

looked like this before-

Basically moved everything to one side of the shed and moved my bench from the back wall to the right front side (easy access, can hang tools on wall etc)

Car now goes off to the left, even managed to fit all my spare wheels and tyres (like 5 sets) into the shed too! (back left)

Tell me about it! hahaha!

When Ray finally gets around to getting his new shed, Im buying the 6x6 from their yard for $2k.

Im planning to whack it behind the current shed and joint the two up, so I will have a 3 car deep side, and the other side of the 6x6 will be working area.

That and the new carport running the full length of the house (hoping to have it built by the end of the year) will also join onto the front of the existing shed.

So thats another 4 car spaces fully undercover :)

If thats not enough car space, then im screwed! haha

I bet you it'll be great for a bit, then you'll realise its still not big enough!

I'm trying to squeeze 3 and a half cars into my shed, and its filling up way to fast! HAHA!

Hi guys, just purchased an LJ and took some pics of it sitting in the shed...Cleaned it up the other day as well, there is quite a lot of room to move around and use it to hang out...Got new heaving duty shelving down the back as well...Although mum dosnt like the shed, me and Dad always tell her "the shed is the best part about our house" LOL!

Anyway, here are the pics:

Speaking of sheds. I had plans for a 14 metre deep by a 6 metre shed in my backyard. I have even been approved by council to built it and I had plans made up by ram build.

After much thought and the fact that I'm renting a 9 metre deep by 4 metre wide shed at the moment for my bikes I've decided to go for 21 metres deep and 7 metres wide.

I'll use the front space (7m x 7m) as the double car garage part/slash showroom for my bike business and the rest 14m x 7m will be the workshop. I also plan for a 2 post hoist to work on my cars.

Do you need to get deeper concrete for a 2 post hoist? I'm just waiting for the draftsmen? to finish the plan amendments then off to council again then the fun will start.

i would Paul, get piers put in were your gonna put your hoist as a standard slab thinkness is only 100mm, we i did all the prep for my slab i made it with 500mm x 500mm solid footings with double trench mesh and 150mm think slab and it still has got a couple of settling cracks in it wich is to be exspected, so i would for sure get some piers put it mate.

Hi Paul,

I'm a builder and you'll find that 2 post hoist will put a fair load over those two points. Like nla8r said you will need to thicken the slab under the posts but it's best to talk to an engineer (the shed people will know one) to confirm the size of the pier or beam needed. You might find that it would be better to add a thickened beam the full width of the slab and across the width of the hoist to tie it all together and depending on the soil maybe piers directly under the load points.

Okay, it looks like I will have to sort something then. I already have to go for a thicker slab due to the flood zoning 300m I think.
